Well, it's good to see that I'm not alone...

It seems a few folks aren't so sure about Windows 7!

I was putting a few options together for a Client who is interested in a new Windows 7 Desktop. He currently has an older P4 system - not worth updating.

After a few clicks at Dell's website, l was surprised to find all the options listed here.

XP - 'till the world blows up!

MS is trying to make users who buy new computers not go back to XP. So this makes sense. They did it when Vista was released too, but not at that high of a price.

Yes - Which makes me really wonder...

If I were sitting in the big chair over at Microsoft - I wouldn't allow this if I want sales to boom for Windows 7.

Unless they are not so sure about their own?

Also, I would give every Vista system out there a free, one-time OEM upgrade to Windows 7.

As for XP users - we are still supported until April, 2014 - but I wouldn't leave them out in the cold either:

1.) I would put together a final group of system updates - say a security service pack of some kind. (SP4?)

2.) I'd offer for some of the more modern systems, say dual-cores only within two years old, a very inexpensive, one-time, OEM upgrade to Windows 7.

If they want sales to boom - this is the way to go...

Take about the postive PR that MS would receive!
