Microsoft Security Essentials, the free high-quality anti-virus and anti-malware software from Microsoft is available only for the users running genuine copy of Windows, confirmed by Microsoft Genuine Windows Blog.

During installation, you’ll be asked to validate Windows running on your PC to make sure that it’s genuine.

If a copy of Windows fails validation during setup then the screen below will be shown and the user will be offered an easy way to purchase genuine Windows directly from Microsoft.

Nahh.. i don't believe it.. Somebody gonna hack it anyway just like Windows 7. All Microsoft products are very easy to hack. Is it intentionally so that more people gonna use it and indirectly increase MS products popularity?

Good decision for XP and Vista but Windows 7 users are in trouble because we all wanna use MSE, and 7 hasn't officially released yet.

I tried it from Tuesday 'til Thursday this week and I can say, No good.
Microsoft Security Essentials actually gets in the way of Windows Defender, used up more ram than my current anti-virus (Avast! Home), and didn't detect intrusions until after they were found in my daily scan.

I'll stick to what I'm comfortable with. :)

Curious that developers crack other developer's work. Hypocrisy knows no bounds?

I don't think M$ will ever get around this OEM activation method, so anti-piracy things like this won't work :o
