I read on the forum, system tray function will not be included in the milestone because it is not the priority now.

While it isn't supported, it will also run on XP as long as you have .NET 3.5 SP1 installed.
For those of you who do choose to give it a try, do know that all the bugs have been reported, so there won't be any reason to post a thread for an already known bug.
Again, ALL the bugs in the release you'll get ARE ALL KNOWN.
Bam. Who else is lookin forward to it or got some questions?

Are you a developer of Cairo? I suppose you are. Another question, why isn't the system tray a priority?Yeppers, Cairo will work on Windows 7.

Nope, I'm not a dev. I'm one of the testers and I've followed the project for quite some time.
I can only speculate as to why having a function full tray isn't priority, so I can't give you an answer. This particular release is one that was already released to private Alpha testers, chalked full of bug fixes from the initial milestone that was leaked. So the tray isn't fully working. The comment about the tray not being priority was one directed to an inquiry about the private beta testers will be getting. I would assume that because the taskbar is vastly lacking functionality (it works, but only to an extent), people will use the windows taskbar, and have a complete working tray there. Again, that's just my guess.

Alright good to know. Yeah I'm sure writing a Windows shell replacement is quite hard, and so there will be a lot of bugs. And things only working to an extent in such an early phase. Eventually, I'm sure, there will be no need for the Windows taskbar and Cairo will fully cover the default shell.

Yeah I'm looking forward to running it when I get home from school tomorrow.Cairo can in essence be run without the aid of explorer. It is, while being bare bones, a functioning shell. The taskbar does work. It'll catch programs running, and display them. there are just bugs that prevent it from being a (currently) effective taskbar replacement. Especially when you get used to the functionality of the Windows 7 taskbar as I have. You'll see what I mean tomorrow at lunchtime.
