Hello all....

Most of us knows that when we right click the drive and choose
properties there will always a pie chart
(except you've remove them...hehe..).

I don't like the color of it...

So I manage to change it...
Searching it everywhere and I found this thread about 1,5 years ago... (at msfn)
Still couldn't solve my problem though  ...
But yesterday... It inspiring me.. :D
then I start searching through system file and

WOW I Found It.....!!!

here is my mod...

Posted Image

Here is what to do....
open shell32.dll with any hex editor... (you better copy it somewhere else before open it...)
and then...

[Pie chart]
Original
90 00 00 FF 00 FF 00 FF 00 00 00 80 00 80 00 80 00

Replace with
90 0F 63 FF 00 1B A9 1B 00 01 31 8C 00 01 57 01 00

[Free Space]
Original
68 FF 00 FF 00 EB 09

Replace with
68 1B A9 1B 00 EB 09

[Used Space]
Original
68 00 00 FF 00 FF 71

Replace with
68 0F 63 FF 00 FF 71
Note: search the original hex code and replace with reserved code...

Replace Back to system32 folder...
(use replacer for the easiest way... but it's better to make backup first...)
Done.... that's it....

Enjoy.... B)

Huge thanks to Mr. Peteski at msfn... for his hex color code and his color suggestion....
but the rest I did it myself.....

PS: sorry for my (bad) english....

Okay, call me a bit stupid here but I cannot seem to find the exact locations in order to perform this uber-cool hack.

I am using Resource Hacker (it that the problem?) and I am stuck...

Could someone please spell out some simple directions for us stupid people?

I need to learn the locations of the following:

Pie chart
Free Space
Used Space

Thanks!

You'll need any hex editor (e.g FlexHex, my fav) instead of Resource hacker to edit the hex code above :)

or just google i.e "free hex editor "

I have a better idea:-

Could someone create a simple Windows Script to make the changes?

This way, all we have to do is double-click on the script and then hit okay and then reboot to see the changes!

I am still having mega-trouble with this - I guess I need step-by-step instructions as if I was a 4 year old!

^ :D Lol poolsharkzz why don't just follow Dubby's instruction above, i think he has explained it so clearly to us (thanks again), done in just a few minutes: Navigate to shell32.dll file (yea it's in %WinDir%\System32 or C:\Windows\System32, you'd better copy it to somewhere so you can use replacer later) then open it using any hex editor (just google e.g here) and use search/find function to locate each hex value above (and actually you'll see the offset/address also, while it might have different location, depending on the build/version):

Edit: For example, as his guide:

(Pie Chart)

Just find/search this hex value (using Search/Find feature):

90 00 00 FF 00 FF 00 FF 00 00 00 80 00 80 00 80 00

Posted Image

Replace it (retype) with:

90 0F 63 FF 00 1B A9 1B 00 01 31 8C 00 01 57 01 00

and so on...

Finally save to compile it, then replace the original file using Replacer/WFP switcher as usual.

Mission Accomplished!

I think it was all them numbers that got me confused - until I figured out that all I had to do is follow everybody's directions!

The problem was that I was trying to insert them manually instead of using the "Find - Replace" option.

Thanks to all!

Great hack Dubby!
