I have recently installed WMP 11 on my windows 7 PC, and thought that the skin does not match the windows 7 look, so I have edited the files and have made it integrate more with the rest of the task bar. It also supports transparency so it will always be the same colour as the rest of your taskbar.

So heres the file and a screen of it.

If you find any bugs plz tell me, so that I can fix them but I have tested it and all seems good.

To install simply replace wmploc.dll in windows/system32 folder.

You will need to close the explorer process and run it again and also stop the windows media player sharing service.

Download | Mirror (x86 32-bit)

Update:

For those of you that wish to have WMP11 on 64bit windows 7 here are the files with instructions and also the taskbar theme which I posted previously. The taskbar also functions properly.

Download | Mirror (x64 64-bit)

im not telling you to install it its for people who wanted to go back to 11. I for example wanted the taskbar player, mp3 tag editor and I also liked the look and feel of wmp11.

Try this:

Open run and type this (regsvr32.exe "c:\program files\windows media player\wmpband.dll") then press enter this should register the library. If you get an error saying register server doesnt work or somethin similar then first do this and then the above method again:

Click Start, click Run, type regedit and then click OK to start
Registry Editor.
b. Locate and right-click HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT:
and then click Permissions.
c. Under Group or user names, click Administrators.
d. Under Permissions for Administrators, make sure that the Allow check box
for the following entries is selected:
* Full Control
* Read
e. Click Apply and then click OK.
f. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.

Didn't work. If it matters I'm using x64. And I also added (x86) after program files in cmd. No error displayed(It opened one window). It looked just fine but still no toolbar. I tried restart, still no toolbar. :(

maybe its because this is for version x86 not x64. Did you use the installer from the other post? becuase thats only for x86, and to make it work in x64 you would need x64 windows media files, if you can get that to work then I wouldnt mind making a few changes for you.

Im just gonna install 7 64 bit in vpc and see if I can get it to work.

I think my WMP11 is the same as yours. I mean mine is x86. I also changed wmploc.dll in SysWOW64(something like system32 for x86 applications).

apperently the newer installers for the wmp11 already have this or something like it included. I had to reinstall my os and I just re installed wmp11 on 7 and the taskbar player is transparent and colored to the taskbar. Last time I installed it, it was the regular black.
