Well, i liked very much dreamscene and i dunno why M$ removed it from Win7... anyway i manage to install it with a patch that someone made, but unfortunately enabling dreamscene in win7 will cause some issues, like the text of the desktop icons that doesnt display well when using dreamscene...

But someone found a workaround for this and now works excellent!!! and i just wanted to share the steps to fix this issue ( all credits goes to the user "Stu" that posted the fix in .mydigitallife)

Steps:

1) right click a video and set to desktop background
2) set folder options to show hidden files
3) go to --> C:\Users\#username#\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows DreamScene
4) there should be 2 image files of the dreamscene running (1 hidden/greyed)
5) set both files to “read only” & uncheck “hidden”
6) right click desktop > personalise > desktop background
7) under windows dreamscene, you should see both image files
8) make sure both are checked by clicking check boxes next to them
9) set Picture position: Fill
10)save changes

NOTE: You can now set any dreamscene without text bug, however if you dont
do the above procedure everytime you set a different video, you will briefly see the
image of the first video you set at windows startup…therefore just delete both images
that was set to “read only” and start procedure again on new video.

(again, all credits goes to the user "Stu" that posted the fix in .mydigitallife)

Cya.

I never did understand why they removed it.

Dreamscene was one of the coolest features.

Dreamscene is such a waste of computer resources. I mean who the hell has time to stare at the background anyway? I like the slideshow effect in Win7 way better.

I like both, I use the slideshow but the dreamscene is cool when your bored, showing off or just want something different

Dreamscene was cool but it took too much system resources. I like Windows 7 slideshow. :)

For all those, who don't understand, why to waste all the resources to something like Dreamscene: The true effect of the feature shows when you put a very slightly moving video as background. It does not disturb, but has a calming, almost therapy effect. I swear I can feel the slight cool wind breeze when grass moves slowly back and forth on my wallpaper. It is so slow and realistic, and with Windows Aero on win7 or Vistaglazz on windows vista glass effect you really don't feel the difference anymore, are you sitting in office or outside enjoying the summer. And the best part is, that it doesn't overload my computer, It just sits there seamlessly, I guess having a fast, up to date computer is a must have requirement for something like this.
