Google Chrome OS will be released later this year. Here are some of the common expectations:

  • Integration with Google Accounts
  • It should work offline
  • Run Windows applications
  • Instant boot
  • It should be fast
  • Built-in desktop search
  • In sync
  • Save screen real estate for Netbooks
  • Use applications without installing
  • Driver support for a wide range of hardware

What do you expect?

The whole damn thing to look like their browser. Although a file manager in that style would be sexy.

  • Stable and less bugs
  • Comfortable to use (Friendly GUI)
  • Consume less resources
  • Access Google and other online services with ease

Those what I'm dreaming for.

Stable and less bugs...? From what OS are you comparing it to? Chrome OS hasn't even had legitimate leaked pictures.

And I expect to have a lightweight Linux distribution that is built around Google, Social Networking, and Online Entertainment interactions. I expect a GUI that looks like Chrome now, and something that is user friendly. However, I expect an OS that is unique - something only Google can pull off.

yea but I also hope for some customization opportunity, and it to be very responsive

Run Windows applications "natively"

Is it possible without Wine or any virtualization technology?

I heard it's virus proof so I'm expecting no anti-virus program using up my ram :P

Not without a lawsuit from Microsoft.

Nothing is virus proof.
I just want an OS that would be nice for a netbook/laptop....

Something fast that doesn't need a shit load of stuff installed, with Google Chrome pre installed on it etc etc
Something I can just surf the web with decently and talk to friends...

I will always use Windows for gaming though.

You mean Virtualization, right?
But then it won't be native. :D

Integration with Google Accounts

yeah!

It should work offline

I don't think it will, but we'll see ;)

Run Windows applications

prolly not going to happen

Instant boot

YES!!

It should be fast

it WILL be. Just like Chrome Browser.

Built-in desktop search

a necessity in any modern OS...

Driver support for a wide range of hardware

this will take some time, but yeah, eventually, it will.

I want a instant-on lightweight OS, that's capable of replacing my windows (except for gaming).
