When WM v3.3 was released I was of the opinion that it would be used regularly. But right now it is not being used as expected. Users are getting annoyed just on receiving single -1 rep. Keeping this situation in view, I have to disable the negative rep button and made certain changes.

Maximum number of reputation points a members can give within 24 hours:

Members with less than 15 posts: 3 positive points
Members with more than 15 posts: 30 positive points

Please let me know, is it a right decision to disable the negative rep button?

So dat means no -ve rep.. but you can only give +ve rep if u post according to the amount it needed..
the system is like youtube with +ve n -ve rep.. but youtube implemented it on the post to discard the most inappropriate comments voted by the user..

Jatin, go for it.. the -ve rep is not suitable for this type of community coz this is not youtube.. for me, -ve rep is suitable with large community where there are many people voting..

The stars under your username also represent your contribution to the community. See this image to understand how the "Star Rank System" works:

I think the rep system was just something the community was to toy around for a bit with. Eventually it just becomes useless.

Hmm, yeah users may not be so happy of getting minus rep. Though with only the plus rep button its like.. you have to choose to.. stay neutral with no opinion to it or like it. Without the minus rep.. there is no purpose of having it there. Even tho you get happy of getting more rep.. thats always fun. =D

I feel the rep of 1000+post members (which counts me out :P), shud be upped to 100 only this one time coz this rep system really feels unfair. I mean if we are going to value this system, members like Villain shud have 200 rep points.

Untill that happens this system is all bogus to me.

1 rep = 1 rep not matter who the repper
i dunno about this system though, why keep the rep system at all...doesn't serve much purpose. I mean, we are helping each other out no matter what so why rate posts? :)

because people are ignorant morons and those that come here just for the rep suffers from "biggest dick" syndrome, as in, my rep is bigger than yours, so i'm better than you. IMHO, it would be best to just lose the whole rep system. and please, people, stop with the stupid +x/-x posts. you do that, then your playing the syndrome.

just mt $0.02. dont like it, i dont care.

Well the negative rep is useful for posts that are straight up blatantly terrible

yeah but people would use the - just because they did not care for the poster, it did not make sense to them if it was a good post or not.

now if there was a "thanks" system, like how i have seen on other boards, that would be a good substitute for the rep system. that way, if you liked the post, you click the "thanks" button, and your name gets added to the list of people that liked the post.

+ve button is useful for the threads. You can quickly see which post is useful without reading the whole thread.

I'm honored.. you used my post! :D

I like the system.. although having a few more higher steps in the amount of posts vs. points would help.. meaning that there'd be more than just 15.. more increments. But I like the move, Jatin. :)

I don't think the rep system will still be widely used though. I think we might be better off without it, but it's cool to keep a +ve rep button just as a bonus, I guess.

agree with FalseAgent this system may not work properly.
what i suggest is if every +ve and -ve rep with proper reason by the user/member and approval from Mod or Admin. Then it will be used in proper positive ways.
