"Mozilla plans to redesign the graphical user interface of future versions of its open source browser for the Windows operating system. In fact, the initial themes for the Windows theme revamping have already been published, [and] are available via Mozilla Wiki. According to Mozilla, the GUI overhaul is planned for Firefox version 3.7. No telling yet just where Firefox 3.7 fits into Mozilla's plans moving forward. The mockups involve the GUI on the various releases of the Windows client, including Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP." - Full Article at Softpedia

1. Embracing Glass: Toolbar and Tabs using Glass. Buttons translucent and slightly glossy to meld with the toolbar. Raised 3D lookachieve tactile "feel".

2. Page Button: Connect the Page button to the left side of the tab area. Directly connected to the Page.

3. Tools/Bookmark Bar: Connecting the Tools button to the side of the window to emphasize the fact that it is used for customizing and changing the UI. Adding a button next to that to toggle the Bookmarks bar which is turned off by default.

Cool! What about Linux and OS X? No gui changes for them?

BTW:

It is trying too hard to look like chrome. I don't like chrome.

Exactly what I thought when I saw those buttons on the right side. But still, aero theme looks sexy as hell, but can't stylish currently do that...

What the hell is it with copying the Chrome GUI?

Apple did it now Mozilla.

We all know what will happen when Microsoft does it though ;) they'll never hear the end of it.

It does look a lot like chrome. And I don't like it much. Methinks they shouldn't ditch the colorful buttons.

Anyone noticed the font rendering. Looks exactly like Safari. Any news/add-on for that?

Overall, I think it is a nice GUI.

Well, the only way for it to have Safari's font rendering is if it were to have webkit, which I don't think it will. It has an bevel/emboss, specifically a 'Pillow' bevel/emboss for those who have used Photoshop. I don't think that it is Safari exclusive, though.

When will this be out, exactly?

Firefox 3.6 is still yet to be released. So these mockups will most likely change, and we have quite some time to go. Since we're only at 3.5.1.
