Apple today released the final version of Safari 4, which the company is billing as the "world's fastest and most innovative web browser".

Safari 4 is built on some of the most advanced browser technologies including the new Nitro JavaScript engine that executes JavaScript nearly eight times faster than IE 8 and more than four times faster than Firefox 3, according to Apple's tests. The company also claims that Safari quickly loads HTML web pages more than three times faster than IE 8 and three times faster than Firefox 3.

Safari 4 is also the first browser to pass the Web Standards Project's Acid3 test, which examines how well a browser adheres to CSS, JavaScript, XML and SVG standards that are specifically designed for dynamic web applications.

Other new features in Safari 4 include:
-- Top Sites, offering a visual preview of frequently visited and favorite pages
-- Full History Search, to search through titles, web addresses and the complete text of recently viewed pages
-- Cover Flow, to easily flip through web history or bookmarks.
-- Smart Address Fields for automatically completing web addresses from an easy to read list of suggestions
-- Search Fields, to fine tune searches with recommendations from Google Suggest or a list of recent searches
-- Full Page Zoom, for a closer look at any website without degrading the quality of the site's layout and text.

I'm annoyed that Apple took away the tabs on the top, which is what we had in the Beta. I miss them so very much.

:( Safari is not working quite well on Windows (especially Vista).
It runs CPU above 70% often, that makes me sick, Huhhh!!

 Howver, I love the the text rendering as long as there is no others
browser in the world we can experience such that sweet stuff.

It's actually true, it feels real snappy as compared to the others (without extensions of course).

Tried Chrome 3, although loading is unnoticeable on most pages, there are some sites that it is indeed faster.

Sadly, Opera lost the performance crown.

One thing though, Safari 4 beta really looks sleek but the final is back to fugly (It is now back to Safari 3 looks).

Yes, it doesn't look very good in Windows!
But would it be so hard to modify the resources?

Doesn't run that well on Windows. It is a massive resource hog and the sites don't load as fast as Firefox or Chrome.

so, apple, from the headline form this post, is basically telling the world that is has a bigger dick that the rest of the web browsers? cuz that is what apple seems to be saying. you know, "ours is bigger and better."

granted, i have not used safari since ver 1. but hell, they dont have adblock support, so f**k'em. big dick or not, i dont want to see any ads.

if your browser does not have adblock support, then it is a waste of my time.
