If You experience problems remember:
    * check if You have .NET 2.0 installed
    * run application with full administrator rights, remember to unblock it
    * try using in compatibility mode with XP or Vista
    * disabling themes for application might help too

Remember, You can help Nimi projects by promoting them

Hybrid programming :) and .NET isn't bad - not to mention rewriting all effects would take ages and some coding principles wouldn't work - as fas as I know C++ doesn't allow late binding.

could You check if You have a lot of conime.exe? I suspect that language support could be reason of this - maybe not best guess, but after all those I've tried. :) Btw, You are one of the most loyal NV users - You help develop program ;)

Working on Win7 here. Ok it works. Thats good news. But problem is it doesnt work well. Here is a complete roundup from my point of view. [p.s: Dont get angry or anything :D]

1. Jelly => Works fine. But is too late. U are using timers I suppose and so I need to click and hold mouse to get the window to show this effect. And this is also the reason why impatient people may not ever see anything

Attached File  jelly.jpg (61.78K)
Number of downloads: 39

2. Contrast => Beautiful. But has got problems like not turning off even if I disable it. And I have seen better forms of these. Its actually a feature on Macs.

Attached File  contrast.jpg (68.57K)
Number of downloads: 25

3. Task Manager => To be frank its ugly. But that doesnt mean anythings wrong with it. U need better math thats all.

Attached File  taskman.jpg (82.01K)
Number of downloads: 39

4. Frost => Again I am not sure if I want this effect. Well if the snow was moving or something then maybe...

Attached File  frost.jpg (32.72K)
Number of downloads: 28

5. New bug => Leaving artifacts all over the screen and turning random parts of the screen to black and white. :P

6. Non-Active/Moving Window transparency => This works ABSOLUTE BEAUTIFUL. The way u wrote this particular subroutine, its a world class job. It NEVER fails me. Very good (Y)

7. Window Bounce: WORKS.But too jerky. It always gives me the feeling that Nimi is shouting "I am running". It shud be more naturalistic more fluid.

Well that rounds it up for me. Other effects aren't really needed if u are on Win7. Atleast all of the effects work. Well thats the +ve part.

Oh and unhandled exceptions all over the place but I dont really care. Looking forward to next version. Its getting there slowly but surely.

My first thought:  Second: :woot: Third: Posted Image

Most funny thing is that from code part everything should work in instant, and does with some effects...even when I measured time (inside code) there is no reason for this to behave this way.

Except I'm missing something - anyway 10 will have new core written from scratch (as already said I'm working on it)

edit btw, background window should disappear  W7 strikes again :o

Didn't know it was :woot: anyway, seems like an unload modules issue - got it few times, but then I thought I've fixed it. New core will surely solve problems - thanks to my "stopwatch block coding" XD (tried that on current 4.0 jelly windows - decreased time by half thanks to that)

3. Task Manager => To be frank its ugly. But that doesnt mean anythings wrong with it. U need better math thats all.

^-^' looks better without Aero - from unknown reason it messed window coordinates (white border)

edit !!! You don't seem to have transparent window shadow and windows are also full opaque - seems like a W7 .NET problem with alpha drawing! :)

I will today add some screenshots on myNimi - so You will see what I meant.

4. Frost => Again I am not sure if I want this effect. Well if the snow was moving or something then maybe...

Attachment attachment

Needed it once :P then I've decided to left it...it looks nice on wallpapers with a lot of details

5. New bug => Leaving artifacts all over the screen and turning random parts of the screen to black and white. :P

or I should patent it as new effect ;P also might be some W7 issue

Actually almost all transparency requiring effects use same function xD...but as You can see detection works differently from time to time

*fails from chair laughing* xD "I am running"... more seriously: I've changed it's algorithm few times, from cubic functions, to logarithmic... as I want to write new wiggle effect - I will probably find better idea for new version :)

And I spend 80% of time working on transparent window borders  :P but it's more for XP and Aero Basic users like me. :D

One more thanks for "review" :D
Oh and unhandled exceptions all over the place but I dont really care.

again, might be W7 related :(
Looking forward to next version. Its getting there slowly but surely.

 First though I have to deal with lifeha(..)gha(...)any other possible related site. Posted Image

It's a time it get attention it deserves - cause where is better? ;) (except upcoming NV10 :P)

Be patient. Ur app is turning out nicely.

Oh and ur new site is beautiful. Images u used are very artistic. Cud have spiced it up with all those blingy javascript menus and all. But better not mess with it.

"Dont fix it if it already works" - is my motto :D

Thanks. However, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't get even more popular. Especially as I really want to contact MS, Google, Sun or fruit company and have nice entry in résumé soon - so far time is flowing in one direction (yes, I'm thinking how to change it ^-^') and I'm past middle way of getting engineer degree: I can't afford to wait any longer...and I said 9 will be a blast.

Btw, did I mention I've got proposal on my faculty to take part in some scientific researches! :D (with publication) We will see how it will end. :) Also I'm thinking of taking MS MCP test from Basic .NET - having title would be nice, except they can't learn me anything more I guess.

edit biggest problem is - people see NV from prism of some other application, while they don't realize one thing: if I focus just on one application - effect for all that time I've spend on Nimi... what I'm trying to say I doubt anyone would be able to write so much in such little time

Actually I've had such version - main image was in cycle with other div etc., but Google Sites doesn't allow JS and I couldn't find good place to storage for pictures to use it on blog... so I've decided to go to compromise and use simpler way. If page visits count will increase to 1000 and I get contact with some company I will definitely turn to better hosting etc. believe me or not I'm quite good at those (before I've started programming I was pretty good at this)

I managed to get some of the effects to work by:

Right clicking on Nimi.
Sayed "This program is being blocked"
I clicked unblock.
Then I ran it as admin.

Only effects that worked for me:

Bounce on activation: Worked fine

Transparency on move: Worked fine but it takes to long for it to apply (i move the window for at least 5 seconds before it kicks in)

Sparkle on activate: Worked fine, only works once though. (it wont do it again if I try it.)

The rest didn't work.

Did I mention I've added oneClick full trust setting :)

Sparkle should appear only on window change - and rest is detection. Above I've talked with ~Devrexster on that. I might only add Nimi Mirage is actually secondary core - using it as main would require rewrite, for what I'm already working on for NV10. For now it's only used if transparent window borders are selected, and isn't communicating with current main core.

Btw, nice to hear that - thanks - takes a lock at motivational poster(I should write frame application for that)... makes me motivated ;P
