A quote from Paul Thurrott's recent post:

"There are rumors, too, that a new UI is coming and it may make sense for Microsoft to hold on to that UI for the RTM builds, so that it has one last surprise to offer up to its eager fans. Indeed, the smartest thing Microsoft has done with Windows 7, in many ways, is keep the drama high by playing things close to the vest. That said, our first RTM-level build, build 7106, doesn't really offer anything in the way of revelation."

After reading this report Ed Bott said that this report is complete unadulterated nonsense! :D

Indeed I am as well, I think the start button needs redone, and the taskbar leaves something to be desired...

I doubt the rumor is true because this is why for the last couple months they've been sending out beta's to find bugs with the current OS and GUI changing the GUI now would just require more testing.

So am I, they cant keep the same aero ui, its still vista at heart IMO. They have the designing skills to pull something off. Keep transparency as an option but add a new look and feel, to make windows 7 have it's own feel like xp and vista.
