* The all you can eat editions, contain everything except Windows Anytime Upgrade (you’d already be running the highest edition available)

Professional
* No BitLocker

Home Premium
* No BitLocker
* No EFS (Encrypting File System)
* No Support for backup to a network location
* Client-only Remote Desktop

Home Basic
* No Aero Glass
* No Premium games
* No BitLocker
* No EFS (Encrypting File System)
* No Support for backup to a network location
* Client-only Remote Desktop
* No Media Center support
* No Tablet PC or Multi-Touch support
* No built-in support for DVD burning or playback
* Single processor support only

Starter
* 3 app limit
* No Aero Glass

Could you cancel the services on ultimate? theres only like 8 in the beta so not as bad as vista

Before someone says anything

Home Basic will be targeted at netbooks so most of these features will be unneeded and starter won't even be available in the US.

Any computer nowadays will run aero.

Home Premium is really the only version that makes sense to get. Below that Microsoft guts it and above it just adds services that are better done by freeware apps anyhow.

Home Premium is what I actually use.
But more people seed Ultimate so I get that :D

Windows 7 will be out the next time I buy a laptop (2 years)... so most likely Home Premium.

Ultimate, since I'm building a rig which will (hopefully) be finished by the end of this year.
If I build a nice rig, I might as well get Ultimate :P .

They don't plan to sell it here its for emerging markets
