trust me guys this one rocks and is much better than windows 7 start menu !

Posted Image

features:
provide direct access my computer, control panel, program files, favourites from start menu itself.
provides transparency (so XP users will love it)
provides search bar in start menu.
vista like shutdown button at the top

this application is only for windows XP.
i would say this is a very cool piece of application.

to download click here

i found this at Mr vishal gupta's site (askvg.com) and thought i would share it.

Perfect timing I just applied the VistaXP theme by Kol :P
Looks cool perhaps it could give ViStart a run for it money, I'm trying now

EDIT:
Downloaded now, the first thing I noticed is it only opens when clicking the start button and not the WIN key.

The control panel is right there from the start menu its not a link I like that and I almost have access to my whole harddrive withour opening explorer.

The transparency is also on the side menus to like when hitting the program files the white background is a nice clear tint

SHUTDOWN PROBLEM (major issue)

when i click on shutdown in Smartup menu it opens my documents folder. also other options like restart and log off open my documents folder.
i cannot even shutdown my pc using task manager.
also WIN + u + u doesnt work.

only way i can shutdown my PC is by ending the "smartup.exe" process and then shutting it down !
this aint exactly the start ksoft would have wanted.

please help.

Nice app! Thanks :D

Edit (Later): Sorry forgot to say xD, if you want to get Vista like start menu on Xp without installing any third party and Vistart or only using original Microsoft and Xp built in features, please check it out here:

http://www.winmatrix...showtopic=20450

+ even link to some other awesome Xp start menu tutorials and tweaks by our WM master Vishal Gupta there... :D

It's not as perfect as the original Vista one or even little far behind, but hey it's still nice, simple, and functional IMHO, more tasted original, without using any 3rd party apps, even you'll get a working searchbar like original Vista start menu (by installing Windows Desktop Search) etc. Btw personally i just use that on my Xp hehe. That's it, just do it manually as guide. Anyway good luck... :)

Replacing "My computer" with CAPITALIZED "Computer" would be better. It pisses me off when such great programs don't capitalize words.. why not do it.. it looks better!

no, you can keep it running and hit the win key instead this brings you to the original start menu (at least on xp) and you can shut down from there, the smart up menu only appears when clicking the start button

This is actually amazing. It's somehow better than vistart. usability wise. And it's somehow simple too.

ViStart is only bettet GUI-Wise; and only because ViStart was meant to be a replica of the Vista start menu, this is only meant to be a replica of the usability + more.
