The 60-second ad is all about “Lauren,” who wants to buy a new, 17-inch-screen laptop for under $1,000.

More like......I just ain't got enough money for a Mac. Also, owning a Mac does not make you "cool"!

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Do HP and Microsoft have some kind of endorsement deal? HP is always in like every MS ad.

It's just a AD don't get so worked up about it..

Why is it every time there is something about MS one of the first posts is a fanboy comment.

MS is finally hitting back after years of abuse from MAC ad's. And they are actually spewing out facts...

And no I don't prefer one OS over the other I just feel that making comments like these do nothing more then start fights.

Okay....

First off, I think "Lauren" is hot, I used to date a red head back in High School...

It's about time: "The Empire Strikes Back"!!!

I enjoyed those Mac Ads last year, but these are really hitting home!

I just set up a client with a similar rig for approx $800.00.

If she was shopping with me, she would've purchased an XP Machine.

Since she just bought it, doesn't she qualify for the free upgrade to Windows 7?

Double whammy!

0) Now I feel that I should have Silverlight installed...isn't this software not available on Macs? Anyway, Youtube saves the day
1) Now I feel like using my PC notebook makes me lame and poor
2) I bet that if She would say in Apple store - that She is playing in Microsoft advertisement and got 1000$ to buy 17-inch notebook, She would definitely get Mac for that price ;P
3) Why one need 17-inch screen...I think that 13 is acceptable as well - most people don't design graphics etc. and it could be 13inch and got higher resolution than that 17 one :P

More seriously: from my engineering knowledge Macs are more solid and have better solutions. Isn't it that their screens and touchpad (multitouch!) are covered with glass? etc.

17" laptops are heavy. I prefer 13" screen.

Great ad btw.

LOL! Great ad :) She's hot!

Still, Macs are better (Screen quality, hardware quality, OS quality, application quality, etc.). PCs are more affordable to get, but in the end more expensive when you add everything you need to get things done. Unless, you are a proud pirate :D

In the end, it's a personal choice. I like Unix and Unix like systems :)

One thing I hate about Windows Vista is that when you install an application, you seriously have to monitor it's services to make sure it doesn't slow down the system. I have to check my services from time to time (stopping some and changing them from automatic to manual) to keep my Windows blazing fast. With Unix systems, I don't have to do that. Windows 7 does do a good job at fixing this. I have heard good and bad things about later build releases of Windows 7. Still, it's in beta and miracles can happen. Windows Live is getting better each day. Props to the Live team!

To me, it's all about waiting. PCs if you don't have the cash for a full system, you can still get a decent one for cheap and then pay your way up to what you want. Still, on the other had, you can buy Macs for cheap at applepalace.com and other sites on the web and locally from shops at a great deal.

It's all about what you want and when you want it. Just make sure to check the Windows sticker on the laptop before purchasing it.
