I have released the R8 version
You can download it on this website : http://sliderdock.wikidot.com

here are the changes :
SliderDock R9
* Improved memory usage (In overall, I noticed SliderDock use half the memory when it is visible, but when hidden, it can go as low as 1MB)
* SliderDock will not auto-hide if application isn't found.
* add option to set if SliderDock will load itself in "bellow normal" priority

For those who don't know this application,
SliderDock is an application launcher that will allow an easier access to your icons
by making them rotate toward your mouse when you use your mouse wheel.
You wont need to chase your icons all over your screen anymore.

Cool work ... almost everything that can be desired is there.

But, can u also provide a mousehook which lets say, when the user clicks down both the mouse buttons at the same time then this dock shows up at the mouse posn. That wud eliminate the need of going down to the tray icon or reaching out to the keyboard to bring up the dock.

Also u need to change the default value of icon size, its too small.

And a portable version is always more welcome ;)

there is a reason the mouse hook isn't used for shortcut.
For an unknown reason, mouse hook conflict with windows themes and make the whole computer slow.
Though I would really like to make it work.

I don't know how circle dock made it so that the slow downs happens only when you press the mouse button, but even there it still happens

For the default icons size, each person will have their preference.
If I make them bigger, someone with a small screen might say they are too big.(In one of the school I was, they had 2 computer class, one standard and one for programming, the standard class had 13 inch screen, yep that does exist).

As for a portable app, do you simply mean running it on a USB drive or also storing the data like the icons and configs files on the drive too?

SliderDock doesn't need the registry or anything besides the .net framework to run.
So copying sliderdock.exe and the interop dll on USB will allow you to run the app on any computer that has .net installed.
The only use of registry happen when you check "load SliderDock at startup" and it is also the only option that cannot be portable.

If you wish for the config and icons to also be saved on the USB drive, just make a post here to tell me so and I will add it to my todo list.

Ya, by portable I mean the config.xml u r storing in appdata will be in the app's folder and the icons will be copied over too ( or maybe this wud take place only when the user enables some "portable-mode" option -kinda thing )
So yeah a portable mode will be great.

BTW, ur dock runs great on Win7 too (Y)

alright, I added it to my todo list.
I think i will add it as a simple checker option. Once selected it will automatically copy the 2 files in the installation directory.

I will also have to add sound effect somehow since it seems to be the most popular request.

these will be included in the R3 version then.

.hack is great, I can't wait for the psp version.
The //GU anime is called root. there is also the //GU movie called trilogy.

Circle dock looks similar but behave differently. It also seem to be abandoned now.

Isn't rocketdock better ????

somehow i feel rocketdock is much much better.

i would like chasing icons rather than rotating them with mousewheel.

also it takes time to bring the desired shortcut (icon) into focus , so i sincerely feel it is a waste of time.

as far as i am concerned i would continue using rocketdock / RKlauncher.

it's just a different way to use a dock.
In SliderDock you can also use the middle mouse button to run the other icons.
And for the rotation being too slow, in the R2 version, there is an option to increase the speed.

It's possible that the dev believe that rocketdock doesn't need to change anymore.
Or like many freeware, it might had got abandoned over time.

Very nice; I actually had a similar concept for a dock-like program. I might try this out.
