Microsoft has uploaded a new webpage entitled "Windows XP: The facts about the future". In this page the software giant described Windows Vista, a successful operation system, and has recommended users to upgrade to Vista because they are retiring Windows XP.

They mentioned about Mojave Experiment too.

"We know you love Windows XP and you’re in good company. Hundreds of millions of Windows XP users are fans of the operating system, and many depend on Windows XP to run legacy applications and hardware not yet compatible with Windows Vista. Even though we’re retiring Windows XP, we won’t leave you hanging. Our Microsoft Support Lifecycle explains it all.

You can still buy new PCs and use Windows XP. Windows Vista Business and Windows Vista Ultimate have downgrade rights that let you return your operating system to Windows XP. We plan to provide support for Windows XP until 2014."

This page has the FAQs which would remove all your Windows XP related confusion.

Windows 7 is really the final blow to XP.
Like how XP SP2 was the final blow to Win 2000.

P4 original or P4 HT?

P4 HT was actually pretty good and will run Vista decently with enough ram.

If your computer has Pentium D and 1.5Gig RAM or over, vista is faster than XP.

It does, but XP runs smoother and completes tasks better than vista for me.
