After facing pressure by Google, Mozilla, and most notably, Opera, and the EU itself to include an uninstaller for IE, Microsoft has apparently complied. Paul Thurrott writes that IE is removable in build 7048 of Windows 7.

Under Add and Remove Windows Features in the control panel, there is an option to remove IE 8, and according to some comments left on the page, IE 8 is completely removable not just hidden. The rendering engine is left in place for apps that depend on it, otherwise it is gone should you choose to remove it.

Good job guys. I personally prefer to have IE installed, but this is a step in the right direction. It certainly a hamper on the EU case.

If you are a web-developer, IE has been sucky for a lot of years.
IE8 is better than IE7, but still not good.

Full Ack!

As far as I read this just deactivates the IE but it can't uninstall it. I'm pretty shure this isn't what the eu wanted and they won't be satisfied with it

They can't remove it completely, otherwise ALOT of apps will break.

 If Internet Explorer would still be completely removed in Windows, then MS would may also need to rewrite all Windows source code, as well as some third parties in the future (i.e as prerequisite for their apps) since IE has been integrated into the Windows OS itself and some features of it...
