After the fake news that Windows 7 Build 7048 may be the version for release candidate (RC), when in actual the build 7048 doesn’t exist yet, Microsoft has finally assembled Windows 7 Build 7048, on February 19, 2009, 6:45 PM. However, it’s still unclear whether Windows 7 Build 7048 will be the RC build, or RC Escrow build, although there has been several obvious changes to the build.



Windows 7 Build 7048 full tag version number is Build 7048.0.x86fre.winmain.090219-1845, and the desktop watermark has the version Build 7048.winmain.090219-1845 shown.



Some notable changes in Windows 7 Build 7048 are there is no longer Send Feedback link on the title bar of Windows. Actually, it may has been removed since several build earlier, including Windows 7 Build 7047 which was built a day earlier (winmain client 7047.0.090218-1900, server 7047.0.090219-0255). Other important change is Windows 7 Business has now be ‘corrected’ as Windows 7 Professional during setup installation, which supposed to be the official name of the Windows 7 editions.

Windows 7 RC is still expected to reach the public on April 2009.

Cool, is RC open or is it only available to people already in beta (basicaly everyone)?

I like how send feedback is gone it was annoying on every window... except google chrome that used a custom skin

I think it is. No sure what the build is but it doesn't matter since we will probably be getting it in a few weeks.

Will the real Windows 7 RC please stand up!

Come on MSFT, release the RC to TechNet, MSDN and Connect. We NEED some new bits to play with!
