Safari 4 beta came out and we all heard "chrome rip-off" and how Apple didn't "INNOVATE". It got me thinking as to how Chrome's minimal GUI could be improved. I got one idea: integrating the address bar into the tabs. I don't see any downside to it... yet. So here are the screens that I made in photoshop. Maybe Google will like and use it, or maybe some other browser will.

This is how Chrome would look when you are interacting with the web page:

This is Chrome when you need to type an address. You will click where the site name is; here it would be clicking on the tab where it says 'Gametrailers.com'. To move tabs you would click on the ICON of the site on the tab.

Well, what do you guys feel? :D And if you see any shortcoming, do mention.

PS: Yes, I should have chosen some other site for this preview, gametrailers is too cluttered, unlike chrome.  :P

OMG! Mate, that is absolutely brilliant! I love it! I think that Google should build that into Chrome, or maybe someone can mod it to be like that. Because that is amazing!!!

@ MistaBishi
Thanks man :D. your words are very kind :). I'm glad you share my feelings.

@ EPR
Hmm. I guess it could be a little confusing for the average computer users. But, to each his own.

Looking forward to more views.

^ Why would it be hard to reach the other tabs? It will be only as cumbersome as it is now. Once you have typed the address and hit enter, the 'address field' goes away and you only see the tab.

@EPR
Nice to see you change your mind ;)

Overall it's great to see the positive responses :D. Hopefully this will become a reality. Wonder if Yanike will implement it in his OS !?

That's an awesome idea. Someone should make a plugin for it (rather then waiting for Google to implement such a feature... which probably will never happen. )

I agree with punkrockerz, you should forward it to the Google Dev Team..

And someone should also try and make a plugin/mod for Chrome, to make it like that.

Thanks every one and thanks to punkrockerz for the suggestion :). I would like to send this to Google team but don't know how to get in touch. can anyone direct me? Thanks

@ PurplePeopleEater
The bookmark bar would be just like it is now, off by default but you would have the option to turn it on.
