Here's an image of Mac OS X running two hundred apps at once, breaking the previous 150 apps record.

The new silly mark was set on a 20-inch 2007 iMac, with a 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo and 4 Gigabytes of RAM. It took about 15 minutes to open all apps, and I guess 15 more minutes to put all the windows in Exposé mode. The reader who sent this says that he "was able to talk on video chat while opening everything, even while the video froze at some times for just a few seconds." One thing he noticed: The dock can't get beyond 100 applications.

Via GIZMODO

I think we should do a app test like this on Win 7 here,
but i was wondering if any one on Winmatrix have 200+ apps?

Thats no feat at all, infact its just sad they even tried that.
Windows could easily do that on that spec.

Sorry to burst your bubble but windows would just crash, and even if you did managed to open 200 apps it would slow down to hell. <_<

That mac is probably running as fast as it usually would. ^^

It took 15 FULL MINUTES to expose just 200 windows. Its clearly written in the first post.

So for argument's sake lets consider it takes a full second (with that specs it shud be microseconds) to screenshot a window on a mac so that counts upto 200 seconds. I add in a hundred more. That gives us 300. Add hundred more seconds to display them correctly. Thats 400. So we come to 6 minutes 40 seconds. Make that seven minutes.

That Mac took 15 FULL minutes just to expose them...

Stop worshipping Stevie Wonder and considering Macs to be some Staff of Ra kinda things .... They are no different from Windows PCs. Just becoz something is insanely overpriced doesnt mean it is even an inch good.

And thats coming from a regular Mac user...

It could run it, I would do it if I had those exact specs and the time to waste by installing 200 apps.

They are all "little" apps from the looks of it anyway... biggest thing i can see is google earth.. the rest are like Calculator and shit...

WHY, just WHY.. would i run 200 apps on a PC or Mac? Whats the point with this? And who cares if Windows would not make it to run that much apps? Nones using that much anyway. Lolz. Its maybe fun to test and make a record but its meaningless :P =D hehe.

That sounds speculative, not informative.

I have only 1 simple question ?

Who the hell cares ? Come on ! How many of u want to run 15 apps side by side ? Not 200 ...

I think this is bullsh*t and unimportant.

Erm?

Can you prove this at all?

How does a OS have anything to do with hardware capabilities?

If your talking about resources Leopard is just as much of a hog as vista was if I recall.

And Windows 7 runs lighter then OSX

Too true.
While Apple are trying to prove how great they are, Windows are SHOWING (and proving) how great they are with Windows 7.

Sorry, but apple already showed and proved how great they are with Leopard. The are going to rub Microsoft's and other's faces in it with Snow Leopard.

Mhm Leopard was real great

Crashes, Time Machine not working properly , kernel panics.

Snow Leopard will be useless for the average user support for terabytes of ram?
Better multicore support

Once again only performance improvements

Which Windows 7 already brought with new features.

???????

I haven't had those problems. You must have been messing around with things you shouldn't have. I haven't experienced a kernel panic yet while using it.

From Gizmodo

This video shows Microsoft Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 running 108 applications at only 30% processor usage, according to Reader Daniel Smith

What do you think Windows could do with the other 70%. 300+ Apps please?

Use
@echo off
A:
WINWORD.exe
goto A
Until your windows shows a blue screen.

And if paint counts:

Go google

Leopard problems you'll find quite a few posts regarding issues with leopard.

Leopard had just as many issues as vista actually worse people were just to busy sipping the kool aid to make any noise.

These problems have since been fixed along with vista's problems so both sides have no right to call the other one trash as they both were failures on release.
