Google Chrome has the best StartUp/NewTab page. When you open a new tab, the page shows 9 thumbnails of the most frequently visited pages, recent bookmarks and pages from recently closed tabs.
But if your main browser is Firefox then you don't have to switch. Recently released Google Toolbar 5 can now add Google Chrome's "new tab page" feature in Firefox.
I know there are some extensions available for Firefox which can add Opera's speed dial like feature but all those extensions won't work as good as the original one.

agreed
people r always hating on chrome but honestly you dont really NEED plugins
i can honestly say i havent missed adblock plus
all i want to do is browse the web
bookmarklets are more then what i need
chrome is way ahead of firefox and firefox can never catch up as its own flexibility is its weakness

Open-source browsers (infact anything) are only good for a short period of time.
Imagine if Ubuntu got mainstream?!
There would be 10000000x more viruses for it than windows because everyone would have access to its source-code and thus build the deadliest viruses with relative ease compared to windows viruses.
hate it or love it, closed-source will always have the best and safest products IN THE LONG RUN.

Closed source but FREE is my choice of software. But I make exceptions on certain things
But yeah if open-source does go mainstream there WILL be problems.

Firefox is doomed.
Google Chrome is closed-source, even though Chromium is open-source.
Chrome is then at least a bit safer than firefox.
May sound strange but IE7/8 is mostly likely one of the safest browsers.
Infact, iCab is lol.
think about it, its closed-source on a MAC (not many peoople use osx anyway) and then its a PAYWARE browser, they must have like 2 users lol... but very safe i might add !

i partially agree with u guys but
either way closed or open source their will be viruses
there is no way to 100 % patch all exploits and prevent virus and spyware
it may take a hacker longer, but closed source is just as vulnerable just takes more time i would imagine
point is moot any program is vulnerable

yeah, all programs are vulnerable. And some companies manage to fix that, while other companies fall under their own weight and fail.
Which is where open-source beats closed. But you can't really tell for sure.

+1
Open-source software projects can have more people working against hax0rs than companies at some times.

i like the page, but i hate, let me make this clear, HATE damn toolbars.
one bar, with the menu, nav buttons, URL and search is all that you need to maximize screen real estate for browsing.
i am more likley to use the addon. this is why i like addons and the open source, you can Add On as you go.

Great. Because google chrome already has built-in bloatware.
It just doesn't come separate so it makes itself look fast

Open-source can never beat closed source, they never have the funding to fix things as quick etc.
And yes i agree, every program has vunerablilities, but an open-source program would have much MUCH more vuruses and is alot more vunerable.
all it takes is users.
If 80% of the world used ubuntu, it would take one simple script made in terminal to f**k everything up.
