It definitely looks GOOD.
BUT
I don't know if it's good or not (as a whole), still sticking to 2003.
Who needs another $400+ dollars again to upgrade to a new version if nothing is really improved from the tools we use. Many people want the latest but 95% of them do not actually use the product in all its capabilities. Honestly, 95% of users don't even use all of Word 97's capabilities.
2003 to 14, yes for the new UI. But I'm sure Microsoft will be hard up on marketing 14 for the 2007 users.
For us (me) we (I) will upgrade if
1. The table bugs are fixed (ever since Word was released). Evident on drawing tables, the width will sometimes be larger than the width of the underlying (basis) table.
2. The footnotes and end notes bugs are fixed (bug since 97 as far as I know). Numbers do no coincide, some footnotes will be shown 2 or more pages from where its supposed to be.
3. The equation will comply to the standard.
4. All the macros are compatible. We do have problems importing some 97/2000 macros in 2007.
5. Outlining bugs are fixed. (yeah since 97). Still present on 2007 with what we tested in the office.
6. True Reveal Codes. Actually they copied it after saying its not needed. Their implementation needs a lot of work (more) to be done.
7. Page divisions. WordPerfect / OpenOffice / WordPro had this feature for a long time.
8. And the list goes on but those are the things we need most.
Yeah, mostly in the academe. And unless those things above are fixed, Word is still not a TRUE Word Processor.
One thing they fixed in 2007.
Word is now TRUE WYSIWYG!
Excel and Powerpoint => I think they are the best in their areas. While Excel 97-2003 is enough for us, Powerpoint 2007 is really an upgrade to 2003. Looking forward for Powerpoint and Excel 14's new features.
