Microsoft Windows operating systems like Windows XP and Windows Vista provide troubleshooting options for errors that occur in your PC and sometimes provide a link which can have a solution for that error.
But finding a proper fix has always been a difficult task for many. Sometimes we may think why can't Microsoft fix this for me?
The Fix-it teams' purpose is to help users fix their problems in a click of a button. The Microsoft KB articles and the Windows Error Reporting are now fix-it enabled with a list of steps that can be followed to resolve the issue. Some example KB articles are:
* Enable Media Center DVD Library Fix it Live
* Enable 10 Internet Explorer Download Sessions Fix it Live
* Enable USB Keyboard LED Lights Fix it Live
Once you click the Fix it button in the KB page, you are prompted to download an installer for the fix. Below are some screenshots for the Enable Media Center DVD Library Fix
You can follow the Fix it team at their blog.

If they make "fix it" for every issue of Windows, that would be a great achievement. Till now only a guide is available on all the KB articles for trouble shooting.

IMO
This should only have Windows Vista and Windows 7 support.
Windows XP should just die already.

I think he had a bit more than that after winning £1,000,000 ($1,453,253.38 USD)

XP should have support too, because lots of people (including myself, especially for business) still use it.
XP will not die until after 7 is released.
Why won't XP die? Simple. Because it's the safety net for Windows' users. If a new Windows doesn't work right, then it's back to XP. So far, I see Windows 7 becoming the new safety net for Windows' users if Microsoft keeps making it better. On the desktop, I can't find myself going back to Vista after using Windows 7. Windows 7 starts faster and is ready-to-go faster than Vista.
This fix it solution will be great for XP users as well. I love XP Pro Corporate SP3.

But I see exactlty what MS did with Vista, they put the level up for PC standards, it was almost a nessisery evil as XP was TOO effecient to an extent that hardware didnt develop too good, thanks to vista pcs are faster and evolving faster PS DX10 anyone? personally ive NEVER had vista fail on me and its faster/just as fast as XP imo

As fast as XP.... maybe, but not really.. As fast as Windows 7.... not really. Vista has it's points, but speed XP still reigns in. I've shown Windows 7 to others and they can't believe how great it is. Microsoft has definitely done a good job with Windows 7.
Windows Vista setting standards lol! NO! Maybe.. Most definitely Windows 7 will, but Vista set a BAD standard of making users think they need the state-of-the-art computer to run an Operating System.
I do love the idea that Microsoft has to make it's apps sync online. Photogallery, Mail and others later will be a backup click away will Live and Skydrive. Mac has a problem on their hands with Live do to the fact it's free and .Mac isn't.

Hello, my name is Paul Schottland and I work in the FixIt! project. I really appreciate that you took the time to write about it, thank you. As a couple of the readers pointed out, the XP codebase certainly requires a lot more fixes than newer systems. However, I am very glad that the authors and editors and comments here run mostly positive. Our group is call Microsoft Product Quality Online, and we seek to deliver solutions like the ones you've commented on. You can reach us directly at Fixit4me@microsoft.com. Alternatively, you can use the blog referenced above, or join us on Facebook (our group is Microsoft Product Quality Online). We are very glad to have discussions like this with our partners, MVPs, and other people who want to improve the software experiences for users.
You can also write me directly at Paulscho@microsoft.com, or friend my of FB.
Sincerely,
Paul
