I found out that Rafael has managed to make a patched Windows 7 build 7000 while browsing the web. Take a look at this pic:

The patching process is the same as in Vista, except you have to replace a "themeservice.dll" instead of "shsvcs.dll".

There are no themes for it yet, so why?

Doesn't matter, there's no themes.

EDIT: YET.

Because now when we have the patched uxtheme.dll, we can modify the msstyles ourselves and release them.

For a Beta 1 OS? Thats stupid, people will use this build for a max of 1-2 months before another is leaked/released. Then you would have to patch and modify all over again... its best to wait for RTM like we did with Vista.

He was probably testing how to crack Windows 7, and checking if it was different to Vista.

Replacing DLL's for UXTheme patches is a thing to soon be in the past.

Now that I have your attention I'll explain. :)

Andreas Verhoeven (aka Ave) has made an in-memory UXTheme patch. It's not yet released but I can tell you it's a whole lot easier. :D

Runs as a background service.

Even works in Windows 7 Build 7000. :woot: (Personally tested.) (Why it pertains to this thread.)

My amazingly awesome theme I tested it with (Image linked due to size) http://www.tehupload...urdesk_7000.png

In-memory UXTheme patch isn't new. StyleXP, TuneUp Utilities and Hyperdesk are already using this technology. :)

DLL patches are far the superior.
In-Memory ones are not compatible with all Visual Styles, and they could theoretically slow down your system.

DLL patch = Fast, doesn't use any resource at all.
Memory patch = Safe, easy to install.

That doesn't even make sense. It does the same thing that the hard coded patches do.

^ I believe the Ave's Uxtheme patch will be free. You can't charge for something which is already available for free. I remember The Skins Factory also mentioned that they are charging for the themes, not for the Hyperdesk uxtheme patcher.

Anyone who buys any program to do with skinning (WindowsBlinds etc) is an idiot. Why pay for a theme? It's really gonna make you the coolest kid in school!
