I just noticed today that Microsoft has updated the Windows 7 website with a "Download the Windows 7 Beta" link, but clicking on the link gives you "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found" error.

I think the download can be made available within a few hours.

I personally tend to agree, I don't think MS would have a dead link on their site for too long and the rumor before was having the beta released Jan 13th...
