6.1 is the version number of Windows 7, as you know that Windows 7 has kernel version 6.1, not 7. Windows 7 Build 6956 was the last build which leaked to torrent websites. But you don't have to go to the torrents websites again for downloading this build because Microsoft is planning to release this beta version publicly next month (as early as January 5 2009).

I find it kinda sad that people believe that Microsoft would just pick a bunch of random people that have posted "i want to be a tester!1!" in their connect website feedback newsgroup.

People should just wait for the public beta that will be available in Q1 of 2009. The fact that most people here would just torrent the private beta anyway just so they can get it 1 week earlier.

If someone can actually prove Microsoft are signing up random people, they found in the connect feedback newsgroup, to the Windows 7 private beta, I'll give you my private beta key when Microsoft distributes them.
