^ No, why they would include a time bomb in a service pack?

The SP1 betas had time-bombs. I was wondering if it was the case in SP2 beta.

Yes, there is a time bomb since this is only a beta.

In the case of 16497, it is 4/1/2010 6:59PM (at least that's what my WinVer shows).

Why worry about the time bomb? They will surely release the final soon.

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Beta - Five Language Standalone (KB948465) Now Available!

:download: Download (388.3 MB)

Things you should know before installing SP2:
  • This is a beta version. Microsoft advises general users to wait until the final release, which is set for the first half of 2009
  • SP2 is a fairly significant upgrade. It includes numerous changes to Vista.
  • You have to have SP1 installed before you begin.
  • SP2 also includes what Microsoft is calling a "Service Pack Clean-up Tool." This will permanently delete old versions of files SP2 is updating.

Downloading now using official batch file released today...

It's the usual 297.5 MB for the Service Pack... I'm at 13% and I've been downloading for about 15 minutes...

SP2 includes "Service Pack Clean-up Tool" so you don't have to worry about it.

The theme patch for v.105 works with this release also. At least it does for me.

What does that do anyways?

Just got SP2 installed. My computer is running a bit faster (even though I still need to defrag my drive).
