The key things to look for when buying a new Xbox 360

Revised Xbox 360 consoles built around the new Jasper platform have finally appeared in the wild. Jasper employs an updated GPU manufactured using 65nm process, as opposed to the 90nm process used for the original revision. Other than the GPU, however, a few more changes have been made as well.

The power supply has been changed. The PSU is now 150W versus 175W with the previous generation Falcon console. Here's how to tell if you've got a Jasper console via identification of the power rating on the PSU:

The manufacturing date (MFR) should be as early as 2008-08-06, Lot 8031 and up, and Team CSON.

You may have to bribe your local salesperson to poke his or her finger through the serial number window of 360 box to inspect the manufacturing date.

So exactly 3 Years and 9 days later, they came out with, Xbox 360 1.0!
The version it should have f**king been in the first place!

Seriously, it feels like its been in Beta for 3 years.

Don't need the 360...I'm not a big fan of the games that the XBox offers...

*sings a little jingle*

All I need is my Nintendo Wii...

One thing they should do for the next gen Xbox 360 is to stop using component inputs...adopt HDMI 1.3, it;s video performance is far behind the PS3

Make that 3 of us, I was going to buy a Xbox 360 *just for gta iv :P *about a month ago, but I could not be bothered with all the RROD, so I got a high powered gaming pc instead and don't have any regrets at all... Now I can get Gta IV for pc, mine should be here on the 5th :D

Xbox 360 has HDMI 1.2 where as PS3 has HDMI 1.3a
It means no Dolby TrueHD. It's is a step back in audio, not video!

Agree with you 100%.
For me the PS3 is the best way to go :).

My jasper 360 owned less than 1 year = RROD numerous times!!! They are intermittent. What I mean is that sometimes I turn my 360 on and RROD then I turn it on/off a few times or let it sit and voila! Starts up like it should. I don't know why and I don't even know if MS will fix/replace it since the RROD isn't constant. What is kind of lame is I owned a 1gen 360 which lasted 3+ years until the video went on it. It didn't even get RROD. Then I buy this "new and imporved" RROD "fixed" 360 and it is a complete POS!!! Eff MS in the butt!!! If this 360 eventually dies then so am I right back to Sony.
