Hey, I'm new to the forums and I've already got a question. I want my desktop to display a sound wave-like background that reacts to the music and sound going through my sound card (as opposed to a standard, static wallpaper).
I made a crappy-concept of what I'm thinking of, but I have no idea if this is possible. I've also included a screenshot of my current desktop.
I've already running Rainmeter with some heavily customized themes, including Enigma and HUD.Vision.
Is something like this possible with Windows? And if so, please don't tell me it only for DreamScene, as I'm running Home Premium.

I'm just throwing this out there. But, I'm thinking a custom AveDesk widget kinda thing.

It sounds like a great idea btw :D

Sorry, but I'm sure someone more experienced can give better ideas.

I've never heard of AveDesk, but I just took a look at their website. I can't find anything that does what I need, but I see your point. It looks like it has the power to do what I'm thinking of. How hard is it to make a widget for AveDesk? I've got *very* little C++ experience if it requires low level programming, but if it just scripting, I can handle it.

Sounds quite good actually, an interactive wallpaper!
I too have no knowledge of any kind of app or widget like this.

Sorry.

Some people here know how to make AveDesk stuff. Uhm I'm also thinking DesktopX (payware though). But no I don't think it's that hard, but then again I have no idea.

Winamp can display a visualization on the desktop.
Open Winamp-> Goto Visualizations-> Right Click and press Desktop (or something like that)
The visualization should now play on your desktop!

It seems the only plugin that can do this is MilkDrop2, which is included with WinAmp, but I doesn't contain a simple oscilloscope visualization. I'm trying to work with its limited customization options to make one, though.

There should be one called "Wave Blur" or something it looks like oscilloscope one just with some blur, glow and some other stuff. I recall editing it a lot and I made it look to plain for my taste but i couldn't figure out how to get it back  So the options Milkdrop has should be able to do what you want.

Hell, if you cant get it to work ill get Winamp running and figure out a way to do it myself and post a tut.
