You will find this story a little funny but it's a truth for many of the Firefox users. Right now I'm still using Firefox but I'm having a close watch over Google Chrome development. I personally am not expecting much from IE8 but I think sooner or later I'll shift over to Google Chrome and will completely forget Firefox.

Read this story and don't forget to vote.

"Dear Firefox:

When we met three years ago, I thought: This is it, the browser I've been waiting for. I've found my life partner. So I dumped Internet Explorer faster than you can say “unrecoverable system error” and we moved in together. Sure, we had our ups and downs over the years, but overall it was great. Really.

Then, last September, Google Chrome came into my life. I admit I was totally infatuated."

Isn't Google Chrome a Mozilla build?.. So Firefox FTW! :)

^ Are you serious? It's completely different!
Firefox uses Gecko engine for rendering where as Google Chrome is based on WebKit engine which has been used in Apple's Safari and Google's Android.

once Chrome gets in Add on capabilities (AdBlock, Please) it will end up getting much, much better. I agree that it's downloading of images seems to be slower than that of firefox 3, just go to DeviantArt and open up multiple tabs and you will see what i mean.

but in the end, i have it set to my system default browser, because it Is faster.

Chrome is fast, but I still use Firefox because:

1. Chrome sometimes crashes randomly.

2. Chrome doesn't have any add-ons yet.

3. WindowBlinds crashes Chrome... :(

I've been experimenting with chrome a little bit and if I use it for ~ 30 minutes I click on a link and chrome just stops working completely, You can't click on a different tab, make a new one or close a current one the close button doesn't even work! Sometimes ill get lucky and i can get the Chrome task manager open and close the tab i used last.

I voted for "Chrome is good but it still has a long way to go" Even though Minefield is my fav. browser right now

P.S. The bug is chronic and it doesn't happen on any particular page, I've been on pages with just text and a few links (ex. Pages for guitar tab) and it happens.

Maybe when Chrome can be more personalized and secure.

Firefox is still my favourite.

Google released Chrome with some great ideas, but now it needs add-on support, and a final bug-fixed version to compete with Firefox.

add-on support?

Its at 0.3!!!!!!! (0.4 if you count developer release)
I seriously don't understand peoples dependencies on add-ons, what for example?

Only add-ons anyone EVER needs is Flash and Java and MAYBE Shockwave.

Yeah, but in order for Chrome to even come close to competing with Firefox it has to have some great addons. Example, Adblock+ Blocks ad and can sometimes speed up a webpage. People have been using Firefox for so long that there use to it then they try Chrome and they realize there's no Adblock+! Oh Noes! Now when your on TPB the ads with the almost nude chicks will come up! So now when your parents walk in on you they will see something that looks like porn and ban you from the computer forever.
Besides the addons in Firefox adds so much to its functionality, you can browse the web like you were using an iPhone or the Wii browser with User Agent Switcher and Cooliris/Piclens is a really good addon for finding and viewing media.

Ok, whatever, I personally think its bloatware.

And ad block?
You mean a pop-up blocker?
The one's that are built in are good.
In chrome the pop ups go to the corner everytime so you just 'x' them off and you don't even get to see them.

@Cooliris/piclens thing

Its a novelty, i dare you to use it 100% of the time.
Its just eye candy.

I use Firefox. Once Chrome can block banners (like AdBlock+), and has a download accelerator that competes with DownThemAll, I will switch.

Adblock+ Blocks ads on the page not pop-ups click on the link if you don't get it.

Cooliris is a novelty but its still cool nonetheless.

Those were just 2 examples of great addons. Im sure fellow winmatrixians could point out a few if you still don't think addons are important in the race to becoming the best browser.

Oh, thanks for clarifying that point.

But are ads really a problem?
Like really?

My parents don't even check my computer anyways, I have my own.
But even when they did they knew the difference between porn and ads.

Surely its common sense?

Ads arent much of a problem usually but when you get to a site like www.cover-paradies.to theres those big window like pop ups that block everything on the page and you cant find a exit button, like on that site, It can be really annoying.

Note: The ad might not be there anymore i've been using ad-block for so long that I'm not sure if it's still there :P
