The old expression, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", rings true for IT managers. Many do not see enough demand for Vista at their companies and XP is giving them everything they need. What they have in common is clear: They're sticking with XP, at least until Windows 7 arrives.

I know many of the WinMatrix home users didn't skip Vista, but what do you think about the IT companies where Vista upgrade comes with multiple costs including new hardware, new drivers, possible compatibility problems and training of staff?

I use Vista, and the only thing i can say -> if u have enough resources to fulfill the req. of Vista, then it'll end up faster than XP in many ways :) .... i made a move and don't regret it (except the first few hours of tweaking :P) ..

If you wanted to switch to vista NOW i'd say its too late and just stick with xp

WIndows 7 is right round the corner

If you haven't already switched then you've missed on a very good os.
But a better one is coming so just wait for it.

I think it's Okay to skip vista. Especially since the whole world is aware of it's infamous flaws, such as the crazy RAM consumption issue.

I'm using WinXp at the moment...I'll stick with it, waiting for Windows 7.

WinVista is just a skin change of Xp (imho) plus some useless features (in my opinion, again)...
I've tried Vista on my Pc and I didn't like it...it's slow and the HD led keep flashing even when nothing is running! (Went back to Xp in 2 days)
On the other side Win7 has some new useful features (safeguard, aero shake and the superbar for example)

Hmmm...What's wrong with Vista? Why so many people don't like or even hate it? Even as an Xp lover, for me Vista is still a good OS, though not perfect (i already have both Xp and Vista installed on my PCs and laptop). But otherwise Windows 7 looks... :woot: :woot: :woot: :D (Y)...
It's just my personal opinion, so peace everybody! :D

Anyhow thx for the good poll: No I still don't know it's a good decision or not as i have already bought Vista and used it happily as well as Xp. But seems when Windows 7 released I'll still keep Xp and Vista till i have more money to buy the new OS with supported hardwares/machines, and (perhaps) 3rd party softwares...

Because we don't need it : P. XP is fine for us and Vista is just a few different features for the extra hardware. Just wait for Win 7 if you're still using XP. No reason to go to Vista now.

Was skipping Vista a good decision?

For home users: No
For IT industry: Yes

But now it's better to stick with XP, or Ubuntu and wait for Windows 7.

I have no regret. Not at all interested about the IT cos.

Vista is a good OS better than XP, only issue is hardware and it is foolishness to think the OS will work on a WW II machine. Even WIN 7 will also require some modern hardware. Those who are sticking with XP is mostly unlucky coz they do not have a vista/Win 7 capable machine

After the initial installation all OS runs fast and smooth till the time we install more crappy 3rd party apps. Win 7 in beta stage and final ver will also runs better than Vista, with out those craps

I am a Linux/Ubuntu user dual booting Vista and felt Vista is better than XP
