:D thx again Bro (lol the list should be longer, but as i said since each post has been limited only for several hundreds/thousand words in WinMatrix, and my thread has also been "overloaded" ). Too bad i can't add anything now unless i've rearranged it before (Please Admin? ) But still be grateful... :)

:) Hello everybody, a new item added here:

Vista File Rename for Xp :

Phlox 1.2
Phlox provides Windows Vista style file renaming to your Windows XP. It replaces classic F2 function on desktop and explorer windows. It selects only filename when renaming, not include extension (very similar with Vista Explorer):

- Software Review (Thanx to freewaregenius.com):
http://www.freewaregenius.com/2008/08/15/p...ile-extensions/

- Download Phlox 1.2 or newer version (Softpedia):
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhan...nts/Phlox.shtml

- Homepage:

http://www.mystercro...sw_phlox_en.php

PS : Once again, If you're interested, please always feel free to spread/share/copy/rewrite/recreate this thread etc (also all my other threads on WinMatrix) with all download links etc without any permission...As i hope more Xp user can know to get them early...I also need ur inputs here (thx alot to Kyosan and Tosbsas before). Again, Thx alot everybody!

Download Vista / Windows 7 Icons for TIP, Journal, Sticky Notes, Inkball (XP Tablet PC Applications):

I need help with the Magnifier PowerToy please. I downloaded it but I don't know where to access it on my computer besides in the Add/Remove section. Also, is there a tutorial for them? Can someone show me how to use them?
Thanks for any reply.

Carlos, after installing it, then right click Taskbar -> Toolbars -> Select "Tasbar Magnifier". It's to magnify anything on your screen. Good luck! :)

mmm...maybe mine http://www.winmatrix...showtopic=19751 ? (Vista Live Icon for Xp)

Or if you meant "big thumbnail" is file preview (in Vista: Organize > Layout > Preview Pane), then you can also use "Vista file previewer for Xp" (both Windows Explorer and Windows Search): http://www.winmatrix...showtopic=19634

Good luck mate :)

Sorry everybody, excuse me: (New) Updated (Bump? Or should i create a new one for this later? (done lol) :D

Download Windows Media Center Installer for Xp Pro/Home/Tablet and Server 2003 SP2/SP3 and Server 2003: -> (MCE 2005 Post Rollup 2 with Vista GUI port) Installer, uninstallable, without hacking/changing the OS and system files to get Windows Media Center application installed. Full tweaked with full Vista Media Center GUI skin for Xp (The best by far):

http://www.4shared.com/file/81804447/ba587..._Installer.html

Prerequisites: .Net Framework 1.1 SP1 and WMP 10/WMP 11 (WMP 11 is recommended). Also MPEG-2/DVD Decoder and some codecs installed to play DVD and some other 3rd party multimedia files in MCE (Note included). Hardware limitation has been removed (fully tweaked) so even you can install it on old machine!

If you already have Windows Xp MCE 2005 OS installed, then what you only need is to download this Vista Skin for Xp MCE 2005 (to make Xp Media Center look like Vista all the way!) -> Fully tweaked and enhanced Vista-like GUI:

Screenshot of Vista Skin for Xp MCE 2005 :

Posted Image
Well it's still not 100% perfect yet though, but at least still better than nothing for Xp :D ...(Thanx alot to my good friend Ricktendo64 (Author of Windows Sidebar installer/add on 4 Xp in Wincert) for kind permission to use some of his DA skin resource also MythemesMCE...)

- Download Vista Skin for Xp Media Center 2005 above (The best one by far):

http://www.4shared.com/file/83004700/39da0...p_MCE_2005.html

Windows Plus! Digital Media Enhancement (Windows Dancer, Party Mode, CDLM, AC) ported to Xp Pro, Home, Vista, 7:
http://www.4shared.com/file/81824918/25885...blet_Vista.html

Original Windows MCE 2005 Screensavers (Aquarium, Davinci, Space, Nature) ported to Xp/2003/Vista:
http://www.4shared.com/file/83009263/228ee...nd_Space__.html

Original Windows MCE 2005 Skins, themes, cursors, wallpapers etc for all Windows OSes:
http://www.4shared.com/file/83016102/4430f...papers_etc.html

All installers are uninstallable. They don't hack the OS/touch any system file, and easy to remove.

- Note:

- Replacement for Windows 7 Paint in Xp and Vista:
Too bad i can't still find anything for it (at least for now), but you can use Paint.net (Officially Powered by Microsoft and Washington State University (WSU) as part of .Net Development as replacement for standard Windows Paint in every Windows OS) as much better replacement for Xp and Vista (though it still doesnt have Ribbon UI, or not yet for now...).
Download Paint. net (Requires .Net Framework 2.0 or higher):

You can also use NLite and VLite for prepare the lite installation CD.

:) Sorry everybody first i have to say, i beg your pardon, not mean to bump this thread but since i have recently updated it by adding some more informations and links that based on some new Windows 7 apps and features that can be applied on Xp (even some on Vista) as well (original Microsoft tools), thx to our friend Blake Handler. Yeah i hope they can be useful for us at least just for your information, anyways....:D. For "integrity and continuity" reasons, please read the entire topic/my first post again (already included). That's all, thank you for your understanding and attention. Cheers! :)

====================================================

Updated/Added Some Special Windows 7 Stuffs/Features to Xp (Originally from Microsoft):
(Full Credits and Thanks alot to Blake Handler from Windows Live Space for them): (Btw, some of them and also other ones might already be included on the previous list or the other ones are more completely on "List of Most Vista Applications and Features for Xp", e.g Internet Explorer 8, Windows Search 4.0, XPS Viewer and Support, Windows 7 Gabriola TTF font, Windows 7 Desktop Slide Show for Xp and so on..., but might repeat them again here. You can please check it out too after reading this...as well as other related threads by people on WinMatrix). So here they are:

- Clear Type Tuner:
makes it easier to read text on your screen by installing ClearType technology in the Control Panel just like Windows 7.
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/7...85aad/setup.exe

- Data Execution Prevention (DEP): monitors programs to verify whether they are using system memory securely. Unlike Windows 7 (and Vista), Windows XP's DEP is only enabled for necessary operating system programs and services because not all software programs run smoothly with DEP:
http://technet.micro...y/cc700810.aspx

- Windows Search 4.5: updated search component in Windows 7. Get Windows Search 4.0 on both Xp and Vista:
http://www.microsoft...ds/default.aspx

- exFAT: advanced file system format support for Windows XP as well as Windows 7:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

- Fingerprint Reader - Windows 7 has advanced built-in support for biometric devices. only useful if yo own a biometric device), install Microsoft's Digital Persona Password Manager 2.0:

See: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;899626

Download Fingerprint Reader tool (English): http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/5...PPM_201_ENG.exe

- Image Mastering API v2.0 (IMAPIv2.0): Burn images to CD and DVD optical storage media using the new APIs (Vista too). Download the tool for Xp:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

- Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6): - Built-into Windows 7; support for this new suite of standard protocols for the Network layer of the Internet. It has come as Advanced Networking Pack for Windows XP:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

- Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder:
The network map on a computer running Windows 7 shows a graphical view of the computers and devices on your network and how they are connected by using the LLTD protocol. The LLTD responder must be installed on a computer running Windows Xp before it can be detected and appear on the network map.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

- New Xp MSCONFIG - Window XP's System Configuration Utility has been updated to add a Tools tab "just like" Windows 7 (and Vista):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

- .Net Framework 3.5/next 4.0: - Just like Windows 7 (included by default), install .Net Framework 3.5 with Service Pack 1 (Vista only included .Net Framework 3.0, so it's recommended to install it on Vista too):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

- Windows PowerShell (V2) command-line shell & scripting language allows managing computers via commands or scripts, improving productivity through system automation on Windows 7. You can get it (V1.0) on Xp too:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

- VHD Support: you can have the same functionality with MS Virtual PC 2007 on Xp
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

- Developers and Advanced/Corporate/Enterprise Users only: WIM Image Deployment for Windows 7: While Windows 7 is distributed as a WIM image file, Windows XP is not distributed as a WIM image. Tools included in the Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK) and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2008 do support creating file-based Windows XP images, but these images are not componentized in a way that allows IT pros to inject drivers (at least still better than nothing lol):

See: http://technet.micro...y/cc749528.aspx

Download Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Download Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2008: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

- Windows Feature Pack for Storage 1.0: enables the Windows platform to do master style optical burning on Blu-Ray media, as well as support for new Smart Card Driver form factors, such as ICCD.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

- Windows Live Applications : Windows 7 can run faster than Vista since it has removed some "bloatwares" there such as some programs (Calendar, PhotoGalllery so on) and services beside the new architecture (based on Server 2008 codebase). However some Windows Live programs can be installed as replacements/substitutes for "missing" progs (such as Windows Live PhotoGallery for Windows PhotoGallery). All supported except Windows Live Movie Maker Beta on Xp (Wave 3):
http://download.live.com/

Windows 7 Codec Supports:
Windows 7 includes native support for a wide range of advanced video & audio codecs. Just download and install awesome K-Lite Codec Pack etc and you'll always be fine with WMP and some multiplayers programs on Xp (you can also install another free codec package you like/prefer):
http://www.free-code..._codec_pack.htm

- Windows Rights Management Services Client (DRM):
required for your computer to run applications that provide functionality based on Windows RMS technologies (it's crap though  ) :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

- XML Support: Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 & XML Paper Specification Essentials Pack view, generate & index XPS Docs (as MS replacement for .PDF format) is now built-in in Windows 7 (as XPS Viewer and so on). Viewer plugin of the component is also built in both IE7 and IE8 on Xp and Vista:

See http://www.microsoft...ps/default.mspx

Download MSXML 6.0: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Download XPS Viewer for Windows Xp:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

- Windows 7 like - energy monitoring app:
to actively control PC’s energy consumption "sorta like" Windows 7. Install and use Mirosoft Edison on Xp (by MS and third party dev):
http://www.microsoft...ign_edison.aspx

- New Windows 7 Internet Games on Xp: 7 introduces 3 new Windows Internet Games: Backgammon, Checkers, and Spades. They (old versions) might already be included on Xp. However you can still play the newer version on Xp online with updated GUI and features as well as (or like) Windows 7 (MSN Games) -> Requires min Xp SP2/3 and IE 6 SP1/7/8:

Internet BackGammon: http://zone.msn.com/.../zpadefault.htm

Internet Checkers: http://zone.msn.com/.../zpadefault.htm

Internet Spades: http://zone.msn.com/.../zpadefault.htm

Btw, IMHO MS should add Internet/Online Chess Game to Windows 7 too hehe (it's my preferrence)... :D

That's all. Again, i hope they can be useful for us or at least just for your information here...Cya! :)

- Or visit my 4shared page to download more free Vista / 7 to Xp stuffs for free:

Good luck n cya. Long live Xp! :P

I'll look forward for that (it came with the original code as the way it is :D ). Anyhow If it could be removed i'll post here or PM you, and yes if so it can be incorporated into the portable version. Thanx 4 the input mate :)

Edit (little): Also to everybody yes again you can use both Works Calendar and Windows Live Mail app (that included live calendar) on Xp as good replacements for Windows Mail and integrated Windows Calendar on Vista. (Live Mail=still online based calendar but on a desktop app, while Works Calendar is the 100% offline based calendar). It would be better if you also have Outlook 2007 though.
- Download MS Works Calendar 9 free stand alone installer : http://www.4shared.com/file/64127170/112eb..._Installer.html or as a portable application : http://www.4shared.com/file/64296871/303cc...Portable__.html
- Download Windows Live Mail Calendar: http://download.live.com/ or as offline installers on my thread http://www.winmatrix...showtopic=19984 (Windows Live 2008 + 2009 offline installers / final version). Cya

i was thinking that if it was maybe just a .bmp or .png maybe it could be replaced with a blank one or something.

Actually yes it should be included in file resources. I think that we could remove it using resource hacker or any other binary res editor but just remember there are some files of some apps thar can't be (edit:) easily edited (unpacked/decompiled) since they might intentionally have some protection to prevent them tampered as they can special "hide" the real routine and resource depending on the method how to compile/compress the resource into files (i.e exe/dll packer) and the used code. So you'd better use another advanced tool and hacking effort for that special case (or hey its even maybe much better to know the original source code of them lol  , only for changing the GUI components alittle...)
