Last night I caught a glimpse of the new Microsoft ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates and a Mojave Experiment commercial as well. I was just curious if anyone else has seen them yet and what you think about them...

I thought it was good and funny in some spots, but not great either. I also have to give them kudos for not making an arrogant, smug, commercial like Apple has. Apparently they are going to be telling a story as well. I can't wait to see what happens next....

Will these help Microsoft fight back against the FUD that they've faced recently, or no?

What are your thoughts?

yea i watched it this morning; people watching this ad on TV for example will be confused 'cos it says nothing about computers - not everyone knows who bill gates or how he looks like.
after watching it i felt like buying shoes.. and maybe an edible computer

anyway maybe the next ads would clarify things up.

The Company
Bill Gates = Microsoft

The Product
Shoes at discount prices = Windows not being very expensive

Flexibility
Shoes being flexible = Windows being more customizable to fit the user (maybe with a perfect 10)

The Membership
Bill Gates Card = Live Passport ID for users to use Live Products (I guess. Hopefully longtime members get a discount on Microsoft products)

Just Maybe
Computers being edible = Reminds me of the movie "the Fifth Element" when she pressed a button on the microwave and the food just magically appeared there ready to eat. Now that would be sweet!

I'm guessing, like yanike said, that there are meanings behind the storyline of the adverts.

People are complaining about the adverts being confusing and not about computers... I'm sure this is what Microsoft's marketing department wanted -- to generate a buzz and get people talking.
