This is the first community prototype from Office Labs. Community prototypes are projects Microsoft employees work on in their spare time. Speed Launch's goal is to let you get to the stuff you use faster and with less frustration.
Speed Launch requires Windows Vista (any version) or Windows XP SP2 with .Net Framework 3.0, and is a relatively titchy 2.7MB. Installation is painless, and once you're done, you'll be left with a target resting above your system tray. Hitting Windows+C brings up the speed launch toolbar, and then typing the first couple of keys for your preferred activity will bring it up, no mouse required. Adding shortcuts is as simple as grabbing your document (or web page, or application, or whatever) and dragging it to the target, where you'll be able to name it.
Requirements: Windows Vista or Windows XP SP2 with .Net Framework 3.0

I don't see the point of this.
If your really worried about saving a few seconds off opening a program or going to a website then this is for you.
I'll stick to me bookmarks and shortcuts.

Very useful! It should be skinnable, same like Launchy.

Unless it hooks into WDS, I will stick with Excecutor, thanks.
Executor>Launchy.

Newp. Windows Desktop Search aka Windows Search.
The same thing that powers search in Vista. If the app doesn't hook into it, then its near worthless, to me. Launchy doesn't either, IIRC. Executor does, though.

Tried it.
Hated it. No....LOATHED it.
Slow, incredibly limited, and the ram usage is off the wall. Note how much executor uses vs. it.

This idea of a drop target is great! But it ain't Microsoft's.
SuperLauncher from PCWinsoft introduced this concept to the launcher market and it works just like Microsoft's except a lot better because the drop target only appears when you drag a new shortcut over the task bar not interfering with your work while you are not using the launcher.
I am a big fan of SuperLauncher. I think it is the best launcher out there no doubt.
If you would like to check it out go to:

Best,
Alex
