Remember last week when Microsoft lies to XP users—and they start to love Vista. Microsoft told these users that they were using a new version of Windows, codenamed "Mojave." Over 90 percent said they were impressed with what they saw.

Today Vista Team Blog shared the results with the public.

Here is the original post:

For those new to the Mojave Experiment, it's a focus group effort we initiated a few weeks ago. We interviewed and polled 120 participants in San Francisco, in hopes of better understanding everyday users' perceptions of Windows Vista and seeing whether there really is a gap between perception and reality. We wanted to see how people reacted to Windows Vista when they were not aware they were seeing Windows Vista. We recorded our discussions, and today you can see them for yourself.

Some other facts about the research:

* The focus group took place over three days in San Francisco and was conducted earlier this month.
* All participants were either Mac, Linux, or users of versions of Windows that came before Windows Vista. Respondents were chosen from the focus group organizer's database, called at random, but then selected based on having a low perception of Vista (<5 rating on a scale of 1-10).
* The participants were given a demo by a trained retail salesperson - geared towards the experiences they seemed most interested in following a series of interviews. While the retail salesperson drove the demo, it was geared by the interests and direction of the participant.
* We did not use some geeked out or custom built PC. We used an HP Pavilion DV2500. It had 2GB of RAM and was running an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz. The OS was a 32 bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate.
* Of the 120 respondents polled, on a scale of 1:10 where 10 was the highest rating, the average pre-rating for Windows Vista was 4.4. After they saw the demo, respondents rated Mojave an average of 8.5.

Finally, some people have asked if Mojave is the big marketing project we're working on - it's not. The Mojave Experiment is just that: an experiment we conducted on the fly that yielded interesting results. We're publishing the video today because we think you'll also find it interesting.

All those people=fail.

Also, every Vista hater does like Vista's shiny new features, so why not use Windows Server 2008 and turn it into ordinary Vista?

What a shocking response from a Mac user.

I find it hilarious that people convert server 2008 into a workstation OS like vista, and then claim its faster.

Its the same damn code and kernel.

...and the people who knew it was Vista immediately? Where are those videos?

...how about the knowledgeable ones who choose not to use Vista because of informed decision?

They werent looking for that demographic. They were looking for people who talked trash about Vista or thought bad of it, because of what they heard.

Pay attention :P

Everybody knows how vista looks nowadays.. and come on, when a new version of windows comes out, you hear about it atleast 6 or 7 months before the actual release.

MS payed those people, they are actors hired by microsoft to make this clip. They set the whole thing up offcourse because everybody is complaining about vista. its obvious

Or they might not be payed, heard from others that Vista was crap, slow etc.

I even ask my friends now that have never used vista, about 2 years after its release, and they're all complaining about the problems they've heard from Vista SP0

True, while everyone may know what Vista looks like. Most people don't know what MS is up to and they could have just 'built upon Vista' and is testing out a beta of the next version of Windows.

Stupid comment!
If M$ were to hire actors, it won't have hired so many. Wouldn't M$ be afraid of of the fact that if any one of these tells the truth on TV or even his/her blog, then how much embarrassment will have to be faced by M$.

Did you actually looked at the videos? Offcourse its crap! And they only hired the people that where in the spots. MS wouldnt be embarrassed at all when someone put the truth on their blogs, they either say that the person's blog is not true, or they pay alot of money to shut people up one way or the other :P

they might have targetted people who are not computer savvy. well, they didn't deliberately "hate" vista.

Most likely, as that would hit the group that is more susceptible to the "Vista sucks" propaganda.
