Guys
As we all know Microsoft released first service pack for Windows Vista this March and tried to fix all broken things in Vista including bugs, performance issues, security issues, etc.
When Windows Vista was under testing, I found several bugs (I posted a few of them in this forum as well) and reported them to Microsoft but to my disappointment, almost all of them are still present in SP1. Only 1 bug got fixed in SP1 but other bugs are still present and can be easily re-created. So I want to ask you a simple question! Do you think, its time for Microsoft to release SP2?
I posted an article earlier containing all Vista bugs which can be easily re-created on any Vista machine. One of them is as following:
File Renaming Bug:
This bug appears when you try to change a file name as well as its extension.
First make sure “ Hide extensions for known file types” option is disabled in “ Folder Options“. Now open Explorer and try to rename a file. Type a new name and also change its extension, then click on empty area in Explorer, Windows will show a confirmation dialog box. Click on “ Yes” button. As soon as you click on “Yes” button, a weird selection rectangle will be created from the point you clicked on empty area to the “Yes” button location.
There are several other bugs which are very annoying. So please take a look at the following article:
Windows Vista BUG Report
So after reading the article, pls post your opinions. What do you think, is it time to expect SP2 for Windows Vista?

Interesting list.
Although there are a few that I could under no circumstance reproduce.
Browse Dialog Box Bug:
Titlebar Buttons Bug:
Also, can we confirm that there is supposed to be an "are you sure" when you shutdown, logoff, whatever? Thats not just an issue with the classic menu.
Nice list overall, but not service pack material. Its almost all cosmetic, and surely MS can fix that with relatively small patches.

Not very attentive, then.
The rename bug ticks me off to no end.

A Service pack isn't just some 'thing' they release to fix a half-dozen different bugs, <edited>. Simply put, it's a release done every year, sometimes only once every 2 or 3 years, sometimes longer, that contains every patch, fix, update, and addon; that was released since there last release (ie, RTM, SP1, etc).
But hey, by your logic, since Vista is only a year or so old now, maybe they should release a new OS now? <edited>
And to be perfectly frank.. I haven't encountered any bugs with Vista, period. The fact you have run into them, and continue you waste time complaining, ranting and writing articles on it, is actually rather sad and kind of well, what's the word I'm looking for.. To needie? Well something along those lines.
It's been a busy few years for Microsoft, give them a bloody break, it doesn't help they suck. With the 360's massive RROD issues, the big ugly ass Xbox updates and them hammering on securing, and polishing Vista, it's easy to see how your rear issues can be and seem to be 'overlooked.
endrit10, your semi right, these lot are weird, but I feel your words don't really feel strong enough... lol

Microsoft might be concentrating on their next Windows release which could mean that SP2 might be released after that. Who knows? But they had been doing this on most of their releases.
Aside from DNS problems, I think most of the remaining Vista bugs right now are minors.

I agree with you Jo-Mamma but you didn't have to talk like that. Show some respect to Vishal Gupta's hard work.

Ur not at all know the meaning of BUG. The file naming Bug is exist and millions of users in several forums are reported it. By posting this Vishal ( A MVP ) has done a mistake by inviting u like to answer in a stupid manner. Study the topic/thread carefully and answer. It is a bad thing for this forum, guys like u simply contributed nothing for this forum criticizing VG, who have a solid background of Tweaking and helped MS to improve the performance of Windows different version.
If u can't perform, perish but not here

I like being harsh, mean and dramatic in my writing, It puts a lot emphasis on the point and the emotion I feel. Don't like it? Well, that's not my problem, the world is harsh, adapt and deal. Only advice I can give.
And don't get me wrong, I respect hard work, more so because I've moved into a province where the majority thinks leeching off the government is the right thing to do - but I don't respect ignorance to important key points when it's someone of his pro-claimed calibre of abilities and knowledge.
phoenix_abhi, you tweaking 'people' cause most of your system issues - for the record.
And frankly, his background, and his statement above have nothing to do with each other what so ever! So polish up your English and learn to read/write!
I don't need to study a thread or issue when I see a statement like "Do you think, its time for Microsoft to release SP2?"- from someone that apparently has an amazingly solid background at fixing or tweaking or aiding Microsoft in improving Windows, at least so you claim! When he's demonstrates himself, his ignorance for the cycle. It's like, the blind leading the blind.. lol
Care to take anymore empty shots?...

Well, most of those truly are bugs, and someone of them are pretty stupid to even exist...the rename bug makes me want to stab someone with a pitchfork.
Yet, they can be addressed outside of a service pack. I think you simply misunderstand the OP's intentions...it was just a blog. You don't have to agree with it, but you can be civil and discuss it.
Thats the mature thing to do anyway.

@Jo-Mamma
If you want to give your opinion then do it but without any personal attack. Such posts are not allowed here specially for those who have been contributing a lot to the community.
I had to edit your post and disable your posting ability for 15 days. I hope you very well understand why such action has been taken.

A new bug which I found yesterday:
1. Right-click on the Desktop or in the Explorer and select “ New -> Shortcut“, It’ll open “Create Shortcut Wizard“.
2. Now either click on “Cancel” button or press “Esc” key to exit from the wizard and get ready to see the bug.
3. Again right-click on Desktop and you’ll see a new entry “ Undo Apply Properties“. Properties? Which properties? Did we apply any property which we should undo now?
4. OK. Not a big issue but try to click on this new entry and you’ll be surprised to see an error message:
WTH??? Windows can’t find the new shortcut which I never created. Keep clicking on “Try Again” button and it’ll keep showing the same error message again and again. Now click on “Cancel” button and the “Undo Apply Properties” option will change to “Undo“. Click on “Undo” and it’ll change to “Redo“.
Keep clicking on both these options and enjoy the endless loop unless you End Task of Explorer or log off/restart your system.
