For the people who don’t want to download Windows XP SP3 from pirated sites and who were waiting for the official release of Windows XP SP3, now the wait is over and it is available for download via Windows Update site though it is still not available on automatic updates.

Note that the full installer weighs in at just over 300MB. If you wait to get SP3 through Windows update, there's a good chance your download will be significantly smaller since you probably already have some of the updates included in SP3 on your PC. The service pack includes a number of features and hotfixes that Microsoft has already released to SP2 customers.

SP3 was expected to be released on 29th April so it will appear on your Windows Update within a few hours, but if you can't wait then download the installer from here:

:download: Download: Windows XP Service Pack 3 English (316 MB)

More languages:
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Simplified Chinese
Windows XP Service Pack 3 German
Windows XP SP3 French
Windows XP SP3 Russian
Windows XP SP3 Japanese

Thanks ghacks

I've already installed it. It doesn't have noticeable performance impact, which Vista SP1 had.

As far as my dad is concerned, this is what caused my sister to lose all her files.

I don't think mine is updating to the final version, I checked my system information and it tells me I have this version:

"5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600"

Shouldn't the build be 5512?

To know which build u have, navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32. Find the file called "ntdll.dll", right click on it --> properties --> version.
There, u should see next to "File Version" : 5.1.2600.5512

I have SP3 installed and that's what it shows on my PC.

Good deal.

Mine says 5512. So I guess I have the final build, besides for the glitch it seems to have which doesn't affect me.

Thanks.

Note: There won't be a 64bit version until Windows Server 2003 hits SP3 since they share the same code base.
have a look on XP SP3 vs. Vista SP1
