I know almost all of you have already installed SP1 a month ago but for those who are left, Microsoft announced today that Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will download automatically to PCs that have the automatic update feature of the OS turned on.

Today, we're happy to announce that we are beginning automatic distribution of SP1 in English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese.

So what does this mean? Over the next few months Microsoft will automatically distribute Windows Vista SP1 to PCs that have automatic updates turned on (Learn how to turn on automatic updating) and running English, French, German, Spanish, or Japanese via Windows Update. Automatic distribution will only occur, according to user settings, on PCs ready for SP1. After Windows Vista SP1 downloads, WU will let you know that "new updates are available." You'll then be asked to make a few clicks before the installation of SP1 will begin.

Yeah, SP1 has sped up all of my system tasks, maybe even 120%, it's really helped.

It has yet to appear on my Windows Update too... beginning to ponder trying the manual update myself, but I've heard nothing good about doing it, given the likely reasons for it not showing up in Update (driver incompatibilities)

As of me, my intel junk works just fine on this, and I manually installed the 9 language standalone

Driver incompatibility is the only reason. Update everything before installing SP1.

I still have the same problems with SP1 that I had awhile back.

Once I install it the internet doesn't work. It can see the wireless networks, but it doesn't connect and says something about my internet protocols, or a driver issue. Very annoying. I would update the driver, but can't seem to find an update for it, anywhere.

In my Device Manager it says I have a

Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN
NVidia nForce Networking Controller

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it, as SP1 really does speed up things on my pc. I just wish the internet would work. Argh.

Dustin it seems like you installed it through the installer. Did it come up on your Windows Update?

Well, I was originally impatient and used the reg hack to make it appear in my windows update. I updated, and had that problem with the internet. I uninstalled.

Then SP1 was officially released on MS website. I downloaded, installed, had the same internet problem. Uninstalled and let it be until it would show up in windows update.

It hasn't shown up at all until yesterday. Not sure if it had anything to do with the reg hack I used. But I thought the driver issue was fixed, so that's why it would show up. I installed...still the same problem. I uninstall and it's all back to normal.

So, I'm not sure what's up.

*sigh* Sp1 actually restarts my computer quickly! I want it so bad just for that fact.
