This video shows Microsoft Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 running 108 applications at only 30% processor usage, according to Reader Daniel Smith, who sent it to us in response to the picture of Mac OS X Leopard running 150 applications this weekend. His specs are nothing to write home about:

I'm runnin a stock Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 with 4GB of RAM. I counted 108 apps total and gave up bored after I had running anything from Photoshop, Visual studio 2008, Office professional 2007, Safari, and Media Center all the way down to that rescource hog, Minesweeper.

How comes we haven't had any Linux user telling us he's running 250,000 apps simultaneously on six different monitors? :P

Well, why should anyone open over 100 applications? In fact Linux suits the best for servers, because it has a very small footprint on the machine. Last week I had 3 virtual machines on my iMac 24" with 4gb ram. One Windows XP, one debian Linux with server deamons running and one Ubuntu Linux and the Netbeans IDE on the Mac.

Exactly what I would like to know. The most applications I have ever used were about 8 or 9 around there. People just dont have anything better to do & are so caught up on this Mac vs. Windows vs. Linux crap. Who cares what can run 100+ programs without slowing down your computer to the point where your grandparents run faster than what it performs. To me its all about prefrences and what suits my working conditions better. People now a days have way too much time on their hands.

What did you think, the Linux users would sit quietly and do nothing after reading this?

Agreed. I don't think I even own 108 apps.

What happens if I were to open another app?

Linux>Mac>PC? That doesn't even make sense.

Linux>OSX>Windows
