WinStep, which has provided us with WinStep Xtreme, a powerful suite of applications (NextSTART, WorkShelf, NeXuS and Font Browser) that merge incredible usability and performance with breathtaking eye candy, is celebrating their 10th anniversary.

We thank them for providing excellent service to the skinning community (even prior to the existing of the major skinning websites :P) No kidding, but when I look back I get remembrance of many old skinning websites like Deskmod, Skinning.org, VelocityArt which were so active in those days.

Well, we wish them all success for coming decades. :)

Oh and one more thing, you can buy WinStep Xtreme on Bits du Jour, a 'deal-of-the-day' website at the dramatically reduced price of $19.95, but offer valid only for 24 hours!

All Winstep applications are compatible with Win95, Win98, Win98 SE, Win ME, NT4, 2000, XP, 2003 Server, XP 64 bit and Vista 32 bit.

I wonder how this aero theme would look on Windows 95..

Guess I'm qualified to answer that question, hehe. :)

The default Aero theme was specifically made to work on Win9x/NT4 as well, but without the alpha blending bitmaps/effects because Win9x and NT4 do not support layered windows, only window regions. Even with the alternative 'magic pink' bitmaps, it still looks quite good! :D Looks a bit like Aero on Vista Home Basic.

I think many of those shell replacements are also quite old like Litestep, Aston and Talisman. I used to use them on Windows 98.
