That huge bundle of damning emails and documents Microsoft produced as part of the Vista-capable lawsuit is full of fascinating information about how the company developed, planned, and launched Vista, but the latest juicy nugget to come out if it suggests that a lot of problems faced by the troubled operating system are actually NVIDIA's fault -- nearly 30% of logged Vista crashes were due to NVIDIA driver problems, according to Microsoft data included in the bundle.

17.9 % from Microsoft is not acceptable but still I can see how complicated it is to make an OS that's supposed to work with hundreds of thousands of different hardwares if not more. Nvidia had more than enough time to get there act together but failed.. They are catching up now though.

And for those that say OS X is more stable than Windows Vista I agree with you. But I wouldn't compare it to Windows because that's just apples and oranges. Mac works with a hand full of certified hardware so it should be stable!

Well consider that the driver problem between Nvidia and Windows was probably the fact that Vista was directx-10 and most programs still run under directx-9 and I figured a lot of the crashes were people trying to get their games to work -

Also, talking about Microsoft crashes even after SP1, IE always crashes after a few pages - anyone else having this problem? It seemed to have started before with an update that I think came out toward the end of last year.

NVIDIA is the only problem I still have or more to the point NVIDIA SATA driver in ASUS Striker Extreme 680i chip set!!!!!! {I suspect all 680i chip set's although at this point I'm not sure if thats the case ] It only seems to cause problems with the simplest task ......using Internet Explorer 7 [ doesn't happen with firefox ] I'll be on web [for instance the pirate bay ! it's happened 3x there in last week ] and it goes to blue screen saying things like [ bad pool caller ect.... ] I let vista do it's thing it reboot's and tells me it shut down unexspectedly or to protect my computer from harm would I like it to search for solution to problem ? I tell it yes it comes back with no solution availible contact NVIDIA well thats like pulling teeth you have to really look to find where to post [I made first post on video card forum ] I haven't got answer yet from them [don't think I'll get one till tomorrow if at all since I just posted 1 hr. ago ] but I posted last week on ASUS site still no responce [THEY ARE AWARE IT"S A ISSUE THAT NEEDS DEALT WITH!!!! THEY JUST HAVEN'T OR ARE UNABLE TO DEAL WITH IT !!! ] all the while people like me who spent extra $150.00 for motherboard and extra $ 105.00 for vista ultimate BECAUSE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE BEST!!!!!! sit here with systems that are unreliablle at best hell !!!! I'm afraid to do any thing important [ and I won't even attempt to play a game what's the use ] out of fear of a crash !!! CYBERPOWERPC INC. where I got my system is trying I guess?? they keep sending motherboards [3X now and not the problem ] at no cost to me!!!! {I wander how many more they'll send ? so far it's cost them about $1000.00 [$350.00 apiece ] if anyone [sad day I'm going to other's that might have same trouble for help instead of the manufactuer like it should be ] has remedy to this problem I'd be greatfull !!!
I've got a coolermaster 830 case w/1100watt power supply running ASUS striker extreme motherboard w/bios ver. 1305 ,3Ghz Intel core 2 duo ,a 8800 GTS 320 MB {superclocked great card ] with 2GB RAM bought system 8/16/2007 {altough it didn't arrive till 8/29/2007 ] and I had nothing but trouble with it all mother board [one of the motherboards was really bad CMOS burnt out ] or SATA error thank's for your ears well really eyes hope someone has Info

Well, Drivers are going really deep into the system and as it's well known, programming for windows can be a pain in the *** because of the crappy documentation! (I don't mean Visual stuff, I think that this isn't really programming!)

Graphics cards have always been troublesome, may it be Nvidia or ATI.

The problem is not the video cards it's the chip set on the motherboard [only the 680i ] as far as I can tell I could be wrong but from what I've read so far that's it !! I wander if 790i [the new one on board with 3X pci express ] has same problem ? I'll have to look into it if not maybe cyberpower will swap me boards I believe it's cheaper than striker extreme and in my opion [3X PCI express that means to me 2 video cards + a tv tuner ] more upgradeble !!!!! or 3 video cards if you choose to me the gain is not worth extra cost
