There've been a thousand and one ways to get your hands on Windows Vista SP1 or various beta versions over the past few months. But Microsoft is set to post the manual installer for Vista SP1 on March 18. If you're not in a hurry, you can wait until April when the update will be available through the Windows Update service.

not very keen to upgrade to it actually, the search is removed from the start menu. Not start search, the search in the start menu that brings up explorer search.

One question only ;) If I choose to download and install Vista SP1 on the 18th, will I install the real deal or is it just another beta version?

Seems to be the real thing now

Microsoft promised that it will be released in 'Mid-march' so this date has to be the real thing

If not... Sue them! :D

I'm being sarcastic there

Its not that hard to edit the registry for the function to work again.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\find

Locate LegacyDisable

Remove it.

Ah, good! SP1 hasn't been installing correctly for me, so this should do it right.
