Yahoo! Widgets are small, specific applications that you can run on your Windows or Mac OS desktop. A Widget can do almost anything from displaying a weather forecast to playing a game. Widgets generally sit on your desktop and don't look like applications as we're used to seeing them in a standard window. Instead, Widgets tend to look like small pictures or animations.

Yahoo! Widgets 4.5 allows Widget creators to build more awesomeness into their Widgets, including video and games right on your desktop. Now Yahoo! Widgets can be built using HTML and Flash also. For the full-list of new features, check out version history.

Yahoo!'s widget engine uses too many processes for my computer. I have also heard reports claiming that Yahoo!'s software has spyware and adware in it.
