Windows® XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes all previously released updates for the operating system. This update also includes a small number of new functionalities, which do not significantly change customers’ experience with the operating system. This white paper summarizes what is new in Windows XP SP3.

From where you got this link?

@j4f
Open Add or Remove Programs and click on the "Show Updates" checkbox for removing kb925877.

Why such a hurry? Is not like you are going to get a new interface or a new screensaver :)

SP3 is supposed to run better than SP2. I'm using the link on the first post.

Maybe this will fix all my PC's problems...

Why is it that I cannot find anything about releasing it on the Microsoft website. Am I looking in the wrong place? Also why is it that the link provided all the characters after windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu. I have never seen microsoft with a link like that.

I had taken the steps listed in a previous article to be able to put a key in the registry to DL the SP3 update early. The hack had stopped working by the time I implemented, so each time that the alert for new updates (including the SP3 package) popped up, it would just time out and close the Updates Download.

I have now downloaded the new package from the link on SoftPedia's site (same as Steven28's file) and it is not allowing me to install the update. I am guessing it is due to the registry hack that I put into place, but I am not positive. Can anyone help me with how to undo what the registry hack did to try it out that way?

The link to the article I used is below:

http://www.winmatrix...showtopic=15943

I did notice that the link in that article NOW routes to a similar hack for users trying to DL the SP1 for Vista, however, it previously was linked to a How To for the SP3 hack. I am hoping that someone on here remembers the posting and also tried it and could help. Thanks.

Good word...suppossed .... Most of SP3 is patch consolidation but to MS XP is a legacy system.

1. How did you get this link?

2. I have uxtheme.dll patched. If I upgrade to RC1, will I have to re-patch?

Anyways, good job finding this!
