Now you can download Vista SP1 through Windows Update, with a registry hack (Thanks to Neros-club). Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta is available to Beta testers through Windows Update. Experience the WU installation path for Windows Vista SP1 by following 4 simple steps and give us your feedback to improve our quality.

How to do:

Copy and paste blow code into notepad and save it as SP1BetaRK_ext.cmd and then simply double click on it to merge it into the registry.

@echo off
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSp1 /v Beta1 /t REG_SZ /d a2c3c14a-9586-4d37-9aaa-79fbd64069d2 /f
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSP1 /v Beta1 /t REG_SZ /d a2c3c14a-9586-4d37-9aaa-79fbd64069d2 /f echo Vista SP1 registry key has been set. Please check for updates in Windows Update.

Done! Now you can check for updates and download them.

NOTE: If you already installed the Service Pack to your machine by using the standalone package, you must uninstall Beta before you can be offered SP1 through WU. You will have to reactivate Vista. You can use existing Product Key or Vista Activator.

I haven't installed the leaked standalone package of SP1 beta. Do I have to reactivate Windows?

Thanks for this,
but i installed it once and it was causing an error with something i can't remember what it was but it was a hardware issue. So I will wait for the final.

My Opinion: DO NOT INSTALL!
Reason: Well,
1) I waited for the October Updates and they did not appear, so NO UPDATES
2) Boot time does take longer
3) Want activation? YOU HAVE 2 USE AN ACTIVATOR (Unless when u call them, they COULD grant your activation back)

Just say that if I wrong though :)

Lets just wait 4 the November updates, THEN see if im right (yet again, I could be wrong)
