Microsoft likes to boast that Vista is better than ever at logging difficulties with software and suggesting solutions through its Problem Reports and Solutions feature, but here's the sorry evidence of what actually happens when you try and get Vista to heal itself.
From APCMag
Would you like some assistance?: This sounds like a perfectly reasonable offer, and it would be good to know why my machine is crashing slightly more frequently than its XP predecessor.
You certainly have some issues: 150 problems on a two-month old installation? To be frank, that doesn't inspire confidence. But let's go ahead.
But wait, there's more!: After grinding through seven-score-and-ten problems, Microsoft wants additional permission to send information about seven of them. Why bother re-checking?
Size matters: A-ha, that's why. Uploading 39MB of data is not something you'd want to casually undertake, but we'll press on. Post-compression, this went down to 3MB, which is still rather large. Warning to dial-up users: don't try this at home.
And the winner is: After logging the 150 problems, Vista happily tells me that the number of solutions it has found is . . . none.
Yep, that's right, none at all.

Wow, Vista doesn't seem that good at all then, if you think about it.
I'm sure some of these problems will be fixed in the next SP. Maybe you will want to download the beta?

Lol, don't let Vista to heal itself. If you get a problem then find the solution yourself.

Wow, 150 problems... that... is a lot...
But not a single problem resolved makes me doubt... What kind of problems are those, since during the time that I am using Vista as my primary OS (since 09-2006) I only had some small issues with software and drivers. For all of them there was a solution in Micro$ofts database...
On the other hand it seems that I am one of a few exceptions. Most people seem to have really bad problems with Vista.

This is stupid!
Microsoft isn't going to release beta solutions for softwares or hardwares. When I get these pop-ups, it's for Creative. Because Creative hasn't released any final drivers for my hardware, just betas. So, Vista let's me know that a Creative driver is needed. XP never did this at all. It just continues to run without letting me know.
Also, Microsoft has fixed up Vista and the performance is way better than it was. Plus! I don't have to go to multiple sites to find hardware and software solutions. When I install Vista, My internet instantly works and Vista automatically finds the best solutions for my audio, keyboard and others through the updates. One restart and everything is working. Simple and Brilliant (Kindof like Ubuntu Linux). For some products I do have to go to the site and download it because either they are beta drivers and softwares or they are new and microsoft hasn't added them to the list yet.
Sometimes you should look at the Manufacture and not Microsoft for a solution.
You send off information so Microsoft will know what to look for and add it to their database if it's ready to be added.

At least Vista tells you and tries to repair itself. XP just randomly goes BSOD, and you risk losing your entire system. Haha. Plus, 99.9% of those problems aren't problems created by the OS, but the third-party programs which aren't Vista compatible (did you see how many tray icons this guy has?). That's like you putting a fuel in you car that you know it wasn't made for, and when the "Check engine" light goes on, you go "Stupid car". Give Vista some time, it beats the living daylights out of XP.

Hi. With much programs that your PC keep running, is easy to get +150 problems. Check your memory and start up services (services.msc). I have Vista since 5 months and have only 2 problems... drivers.
