i need some help testing a theory.

i dont have vista.. so i cant test this..

Download deskscapes.

http://www.download.com/3000-20-10657476.h...&tag=button

use it to mount a .dream file

C:\ProgramData\Stardock\DeskScapes\ExtractedData

and let me know if you see any video files in there... =)

Thanks!

A .dream file is just a compressed file same like .zip or .rar. I think if you rename .dream to .zip then you can extract the video from it.

tried that, it doesnt work.

i found out a dream scape file is just a modified wmv / mpeg2 file..

That also depends on what .dream files you are trying to extract. If it's a dynamic dream for example, there is no .wmv or .mpg file.

I prefer http://www.dreamrender.com/.

Displays animated wallpapers without causing alpha blending issues.

I am having some issues /w it and my video hardware (geforce 6100) i will have to try this out at home.. i have a geforce 8800gts so it should work.

but if i am seeing this correctly.. you can play dream files on xp!!!

EDit:

got it to work.. its a sweet program.. but it doesnt seem to use windows dreamscene files.... i tried puting them in the same folder as the other "dream" files.. but it doesn't recognize them =(

Funny that you should have issues on a GeForce..

I'm using it on a P3 system with Intel 810 onboard graphics and it works fine! :P

i got it to work.. i had outdated drivers.. but i was only able to make it work with dream files, native to the program.. the ones for dreamscene dont work with them...

but its pretty easy to make dream files for this...

Thanks, but it has the same problem like most other programs - transparency/alpha blending issues.

The only program I've seen that doesn't affect transparency in XP is DreamRender.
