Well... here I bring the final DreamScene version for non-Ultimate, English language, and working for both 32 and 64 bits. It better works having SP1 installed (because its themecpl.dll supports DreamScene).

Download here

It's the same installation method (a batch file), but please read the Readme.txt file first.

Enjoy. ;)

nealloy, look at Merforga's quoted picture. Below you have 5 visualization options. One of them should go fullscreen.

Yeah.

In order to uninstall, you must delete registry entries. Edit the DreamScene.reg file, and put a hyphen after each =. For example:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{BE800AEB-A440-4B63-94CD-AA6B43647DF9}]
@="Windows DreamScene Shell Extension"

chage to

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{BE800AEB-A440-4B63-94CD-AA6B43647DF9}]
@=-

Then import the .reg file to the registry, and reboot.

Now you should be able to delete DreamScene.dll and DreamScene.dll.mui files.
You must NOT delete themecpl files.

If you don't delete the registry keys and reboot, explorer.exe process protects DreamScenel.dll file, so that's why you can't delete the file.
But you can kill the process explorer.exe, delete the file using the command line, and launch explorer.exe again.

Hope this helps. ;)

No idea. Yo should be able to control Pause/Play with a right clic on the Desktop, as papashex showed:

Maybe it's still a problem caused by an old themecpl.dll. So... have you got the original SP1 themecpl.dll files?

i didn't understand clearly. can u explain me a little bit more plz.

I have uploaded an unistall registry file for you. My way is not the perfect way to remove DreamScene from registry, it just clears the values (-), doesn't delete keys. But I prefer that rather than deleting by mistake something important (with the hyphen before HKEY...).
Import it, reboot, and you should be able to delete DreamScene.dll .dll.mui.

Grab it here.

i need the original system files! I updated to sp1 with the hacked files installed and now ma backups are useless!

Which original files? SP1 installs the new themecpl.dll file, version 6.0.6001.18000, which doesn't need to be patched.

In fact, anyone who has updated to SP1, should not install old patched DreamScene versions. They do change the themecpl.dll to an old one. Try my DreamScene instead, it just installs the DreamScene.dll and MUI files.

it updated the old hacked file to the new version. (it's still hacked.)

Vista 64 bit is hard to customize. Give Desktop Effects a try.

So.. did you try my patch? The one a few posts above.

I don't want to give myself airs, but mine is the only 64-bit working patch you can easily find at present.

It 100% works if you have the original SP1 themecpl.dll library (ver. 6.0.6001.18000), and follow the readme.txt steps. ;)

I tried it across two machines, following the steps. Never did work. I just uninstalled SP1, installed the dreamscene files, then re-upgraded to SP1. That worked fine.

I guess yours is Business, isn't it? You need to install proper .wmv codecs. Business doesn't come with codecs.

That has no sense.
The SP1 you uninstalled and the one you re-upgraded to were the same build (final 6.0.6001.18000)?
Did you install another DreamScene patch before?

Yup to the version, nope to a previous installation of the hacked files. Whether it makes sense or not, thats precisely what happened. I couldnt even get the options to choose Dreamscene wallpaper, even though I double checked, and all the files were in place, as well as the registry entries, and appropriate folder.

So I first tried this with the patch, and it didnt work at all. then I did it manually, and it worked fine. I did have a problem with it causing my display driver to crash and then recover at start up......but an easy fix for that is just pausing dreamscene before you turn off the computer. Kudos = )

I think that you need to change the format of your video
get a video converter here
http://www.nchsoftwa...rism/index.html
then convert it to a ".mpg" then right click the vid and set as desktop background, and prepare to be amazed :woot:

and one more thing, WMV files suck, so dont use them as a desktop background. Covert all your WMV files to MPG files.
