I was looking into purchasing a laptop that includes Windows Vista Home Premium. I was wondering what the best anti virus program is? It can be a subscription such as Norton or McAfee or a free anti virus such as AVG.

Can you please give me important information and not because I like it.

Thanks Alot.

Kaspersky Anti Virus is the best!
Stay away from system hogging Norton and Macaffe!
For free, AVG or AVAST are decent!

Windows Defender is quite extremely good

Windows Defender is NOT an antivirus! And, its nowhere near adequate. It's very good for Spyware and such, but not for proper virii/trojans. You still need a proper AntiVirus. Even Microsoft admits that.

Secondly, there is no BEST AntiVirus. It depends on your requirements. Now, if resource usage isn't a concern, then don't look beyond Kaspersky. If you want a fast and very low memory/cpu usage AV, then NOD32 is what you want. If you deal with a lot of infected documents (html/doc/etc) and would want to disinfect them instead of deleting them (like most top AVs do) then you should go for McAfee.

i personally use avast pro and eset nod32.. both are vista compatible

you could also try the new norton 360 which is lighter in resources of all nortons.. nice reviews from this..

Definitely Kaspersky! :D

Kaspersky has multiple updates per day, doesn't slow down your system that much and has a high rating in the antivirus tests. I would definitely recommend Kaspersky, I'm using it now for more than a year. :)

Definitely NOD32 Internet Security (BETA) Its doing the best job so far, you can download it and test it, i already use zone alarm, bitdefender, Norton Internet Security Avast, AVG and other ones but really, NOD32 Is So Far

Are you looking for a Lowest Resources uses AV?

Use IT!!!!!
